Gun shows aren’t exempt per se There may be a *private dude there from time to time but most of the sellers are respectable businesses and are required (and do) run checks at the POS. As for requiring all sellers at gun shows…the next step (and I think it’s out there for moving forward) will be if I sell a gun to cyclist I may have to report it (I believe I’d have to get access to the NCIS database etc) Bidens proposals use terms like “predominantly profit” and “repetitively sell” which puts pretty much all of us into our guns at risk for selling Heck, my neighbor is emptying his gun safe. He’s getting rid of A lot of weapons. Laws like they want would Label him and he’d be at risk for federal crimes if all the proposals go through.
*Edit I don’t know anyone who’s bought one there that did not get checked

What does it matter if a private person sells a gun from his garage or from the parking lot of a gun show?
If you’re actually good with one, you can’t reasonably argue that you’re not also good with the other. They are both the same thing.
My guess is that you actually don’t want either location to be legal for a private sale to take place.

It's the brainwashing that convinces them that one more law will make them safe.

I don’t feel unsafe.
Probably because I avoid going places where it actually isn’t safe.
Every time someone gets on an interstate, they have a greater chance of being killed by another driver than we do going about our lives and getting gunned down. But you don’t see anyone complaining about the dangers of driving cars or about all the people cars kill. Mostly because the chance is small there too.
Those damn car manufacturers have intentionally flooded our streets with vehicles so, according to the logic of some here, we’re all under extreme risk of becoming the victim of vehicular homicide. 🙄

I would think gun shows would only want those who paid for a booth to sell guns. I think it would be easy for the gun show to verify anyone who operated a booth was an FFL-licensed dealer, that would eliminate 99% of the objections about gun shows. I do not see how the gun show could stop two guys from transacting a sale in the parking lot and doubt this new rule would stop that.
But I still agree that ATF, the Justice Department, and Biden overstepped their executive authority in passing this rule and doubt it holds up to the court challenges already being made. So it is likely going to be a moot issue soon. The current version of SCOTUS should rule this is not what Congress intended and it does not follow the historical laws regarding private sales.
It would be nice if Congress would address the issue, but they are too busy fighting each other to accomplish anything.

I’ve sold a few guns over the years, but usually know the buyers quite well. My only concern would be selling a firearm to a complete stranger, because if he misuses it, it might be traced back to me. So I give a sale a lot of thought. I have never regretted a sale of a firearm but have regretted selling a vehicle that the title was never changed and I was contacted for an accident and an impound yard fee. Today “crazies” are starting to prefer knives too guns on their victims. Let’s face it dead is dead regardless of the method. So allow me to carry and shoot legally.

Regarding not going to unsafe places is doable. Some places you’re just not in the best environment. Concerts, gender specific clubs, and protests are areas I shy away from. Now pull a firearm at a gun show and you may be facing many firearms aimed in your direction. Some of the safest places I’m familiar with are gun shops, hunting camps, our church, and get-to-gethers with family and friends (most are LEOs). As an officer explained to our office back in the day, “Always be aware of your surroundings.” Be safe folks.

Be home by 10pm 2. Don't be involved in drugs or alcohol 3. Don't be black 4. Don't be male

What constitutes a "transfer" for background check purposes? If someone loans a shotgun to a friend for duck season is a background check needed?
Also bring back Insane Asylums. Crazy people are the bigger problem, not inanimate objects...

Crazy people are the bigger problem, not inanimate objects... Technically a gun transfer is a transfer of ownership. In today's world I'm sure you could find a prosecutor that could tie together loaning a gun as a transfer. There is legal language that refers to loaning as a temporary transfer. BT and his merry followers should be far more concerned with prescription drugs IF they're serious about reducing firearm violence. BUT of course they won't. That's not the way dishonest people work

You have decided to bring suicide into the conversation? You are very predictable.
Prescription drugs are used to prevent illness in humans, and opposingly guns were designed to kill. Millions of people take prescription drugs, but very few have used a gun to kill another human, wars excepted. Gun violence cost American society and the economy a tremendous emotional and financial toll.
