Since this was touched on in the other thread and is a separate topic, I thought i would give my opinion and let others share theirs
I think Trump should have turned over all the documents and not been an ass about it. I think the FBI raid was justified due to his actions. I think he honestly believed as a former President he could keep classified documents and do with them as he wished, He has a rather large ego and thinks being the President put him above the law.
That being said, they got back the documents and that should have been the end of it. Bringing criminal charges is unnecessary and should have never happened. It is a big waste of money and just motivates the other side to go after Biden and try to find something. You got the documents, drop it and move on,
I am tired of all the taxpayer dollars being wasted on one side investigating the other side and trying to find reasons to prove they are the bad guy. Both sides are equally guilty of mishandling classified data and using the power of the office to their advantage. it isn't anything new. There are bigger problems in the world than the two parties wasting time going after each other over petty BS.

He is not above the law just because he's a former President. He was given many, many off ramps, and chose to go the route he did. The Presidential Records act that he keeps blathering on about does not apply to classified documents.
Anyone else would be behind bars awaiting trial, so he has literally been given the kid glove treatment considering the gravity of the alleged and real nation security implications.
Much more is likely to come out, including if forign intelligence operations and operatives were compromised. Other nations have legitimate concerns as well considering that many of these documents were "five eyes" classification.
It would be a national security failure if this wasn't fully investigated with a thorough damage assessment, as these weren't grandma's cookie recipe, and there plenty of evidence that unauthorized people may have seen them. Oh, and there was also a copy machine in the bathroom with the docs, so that's also a big deal.
If I could figure out how to post the pic with the copier I would.

If she really wanted to be sure those emails were never ot be seen, there are paid services that she should have used. I doubt the emails were the files she was worried about.  |

I missed where he said the bit part, so I apologize. When a Grand Jury indicts her on that we can talk about it, but for now I'm sticking to the issue at hand.
He had many chances to do the right thing. Pence gave everything back, Biden gave everything back, trump is incapable of doing the right thing even if it harms national security.

Another big difference is that both Pence and Biden let their lawyers do most of the talking, because they're not stupid. Trump can't keep his mouth shut, and has admitted, and even bragged about illegalities many, many, many, times.
He just can't help himself, he has the right to remain silent, just not the ability. He's fighting a political battle in what's really a legal arena, and though it plays on Fox , and OAN, it's going to be his downfall.

Trump is an egomaniac and his persona is hard to like. He probably should have just turned over all of the documents he had period but his ego got in his way. He probably figured that he was not going to let anyone tell him what he had to do.
That said although I don’t think of him as I once did I would still vote for him rather than Biden.
I have heard it said many times by people “I really don’t like Trump but I love his ideas and what he started to get accomplished.”
All of the politicians in Washington fear his methods and ideas. Yes. Let us “drain the swamp”.

What documents? All Trump has is a big mouth with wild claims. He has never ever produced any evidence of any of the wild claims he has made. In 2016, he said if he was elected he would put Hillary in jail. I had a buddy who really believed that and lost $100 to me when it never happened as I told it wouldn't. Trump is all talk. |
