I don’t see this actually happening. The first wreck while an ad was on the infotainment screen would result in a massive lawsuit. That coupled with Alexa integration that listens and records everything you say. Automakers have too much info. I would not own a vehicle that played ads to me.

There are enough distractions in today’s automobiles.

You can disconnect the modem you know.. I've seen posts on it..
BUT since ford relies on others as suppliers to the tech, they may not have as much control as they would like.

They are going to do this whether we like it or not. Every manufacturers wet dream is ARR (annual recurring revenue). Ford hired a senior guy from Apple www.cnbc.com/2021/09/07/ford-hires-ex-tesla-apple-executive-doug-field-to-lead-advanced-tech.html Read the article, they specifically call out a desire for ARR. This is the same crap which gave me my (now in the garage), GE fridge which only uses the filters from GE, or it shuts down your water supply. The same as HP with their monthly printer ink program, which sounds good until you want to quit, and then you find out that the ink cartridges they gave to you under the program only work while you pay them their monthly vig.

Ford is trying to catch up with GM and it's OnStar program. They have a long way to go.

The ads at gas stations are annoying - to pipe that crap into a car? Definitely would buy a diff brand. Ford aint all that.

dont only think of ads. Think of services that you use in the car all the time, that they can hive off and charge you for it.

Well while new maps would be nice, I haven't been super impressed with all the barely paved roads and sketchy places they wanted to route me. So I held off on that desire to update sync in my 2019 model..
I can either use old maps or waze..I'm fine with it

Believe it or not I don’t use a GPS in my truck. Never had a need for one. I do on occasion use the satellite view on my phone to look for the truck entrance at a plant or customer I’ve never been to. Still use the tried and true Rand McNally Commercial road atlas. 😉

Never owned a vehicle that came with the option of connecting I wouldn't have it in a vehicle I owned. Too much gov oversite.

Satellite views are nice, especially when you are towing a trailer so you know entrances and exits and parking spots.
Like dad always said, don't worry about getting in, worry about getting out.
But generally he was towing less length, except for his car hauler..
And yes I have a atlas in the seat pocket as well.

If Ford were to offer you a free AT&T hotspot (or $25/mo) to receive ads in your car, would you take it?
