I searched the site. But came up with nothing. I know it has been discussed before. Looking at ordering online. My buddy Old AC refrigeration guy. Told me Goodman with 14 seer or so. Don’t get crazy Seer and more problems. Quick search showed many are Out of Stock. Something about old Seer rating disregarded since 2023. I just want to get 2 systems ordered and delivered. 2 story house. Will store till bottom floor unit dies or gets cooler to replace already dead upstairs unit. Thanks in advance. My understanding is this ac stuff is going to get really expensive

I had a Carrier and it was pretty good for about 15 years and I decided to upgrade when it started nickel and diming me, so I upgraded to a Trane, you know the one that nothing can stop, well I am here to tell you that is BS a dang feather can stop mine, the coil in the air handler has already had to be replaced as well as the compressor, but it's all been replaced under warranty but I worry that with as much trouble as it has given that when the warranty is done it might get expensive.

I’ll bump it for BillyBob, there used to be a few AC guys on FS, maybe they are still around.

Goodman ok,you stop a Trane when power is turned on. Comfortmaker, arcoaire,Payne are Carrier. They are all about the same. Get equipment now!Mitsubishi has already done away with 410 and gone to a A2L refrigerant. Brazing is going away with new refrigerants. Already been some explosions even when techs follow the purging process. All manufacturers are expediting getting away from 410.

Just curious, did you still have to pay out for the refrigerant charges? This really grinds me, as I have a 12 years parts and labor on mine (I paid out for the labor aspect when I purchased the units) but still got billed for this when replacing various parts over the years.

No , that's the one thing I can't complain about, my dealer hasn't charged me a penny for any of the warranty work that he has done.

I am sure you know a lot more than me but our experience with Goodman was terrible. Our installer told me he stopped using them. Major parts availability issue

Parts have become a major issue. But unless the unit is top of the line manufacturer makes, parts are generic. Since Daiiken aquried Goodman, they may have started compressor shenanigans. Trane been pulling that bs for years now. Or obseletting compresses after 5 years. Billybob get the equipment, I just cleaned out my company email and found one from July 10. It was notification that no more 410 equipment after July 15 from Lennox. Except what is left. Anything ordered or built to order would be 454b refrigerant

You could ask my stepson but I don't think he ever made the migration over. (OK the jokes gone on long enough he's not my stepson he's actually older than me)
You might want to do a little research on the new refrigerant requirements. I know you said you don't want newest and most expensive but if you buy a 410 system in 5 years (or less) you wont be able to get parts or refrigerant for it. They are going to some kind of propane based refrigerant. I wish I had a fraction of the budget we spend on R22 and 410 around here. We will probably buy up every bit of stock we can find because we have a lot of HVAC/coolers. And the control room HVAC HAS to work. It's an NRC requirement. "Habitability"

ICP owned by carrier. Just looked at the website. That used to be a builder grade unit. Waay to much bs in controls. A res unit doesn’t need controls like the chillers I work on. Thermostat has worked for many years.

"Habitability" The supply houses have lowered prices for pallets of refrigerant. At least around Atlanta. 22 price was below 1k for a pallet. Surely Witchen supply is doing this. Trane supply still doing it. And Bama Trane is run by Atlanta.

What ever everybody else is paying for ut we probably pay 3-5x more. Cause..."nuclear"
