From 2017For red snapper violations that involve fish caught in federal waters during a closed season, that are over the catch limit, undersized, or filleted at sea, the penalty now starts at $500 per violation, plus an additional $50 per fish — up to the first 20 fish — associated with each violation. charter boats in NE FL are charging 2k per 4 hour trip and running 6 of them on july 12th. 20 fish - $1450 or 1-6 fish -$2000

Gonna burn a bit of fuel. The problem with the fines is that they take the fish too.

Neither buying it or fishing for it is worthwhile to me. I'll stick with bream, shellcrackers, and specks. The man got his way and beat me into submission. Good luck, comrades, with the future foolishness to come. Gotta fight til your last breath.

I used to part time deck hand out of Destin FL when they started the limits and such. We could take you to any number of locations. If you wanted limits no worries half a dozen numbers we could go to. If you wanted trophy ARS same thing several spots just not the number as the smaller ones. Never had an issue getting a limit if you wanted. I have since moved to the cocoa area no longer work on boats. My old cpt says it is actually better than it used to be on our spots. He has actually got more spots that have better numbers of fish than before.
