So I went crazy and bid on a car at Hagerty. I have not won it and will likely get outbid, but it made me think. How do I get the car to Gainesville. I know you have done some of these and thought you might have some insight. Or anyone else who knows. It is a project car and is not drivable.
So the vehicle is in Texas and I need to ship it here and get title and don't want to drive to Texas. I assume the seller can pack everything in the vehicle and I get a shipper to pick it up. Since it through Hagerty, shouldn't be an issue with being conned. Do I need to drive there or can it be done remotely?
Have you ever done this and do you have any advice.

Have a friend in the military that decided to have an older RV “shipped” to Oregon. He was a little concerned about the wheels/bearings and structural integrity. Everything went very smooth. RV was delivered to a pre contracted RV park. I didn’t ask the price. He did say the cost of fuel, his time and potential mishaps made it a good deal. I would think the auction company does shipping all the time.

Hagerty can assist you on transportation.
If you acquire a shipper yourself, make sure it's reputable and insured.
They'll need to know the vehicle isn't mobile.
Let me look and see who I used last.

Looks like I'm getting outbid, but the info will be good for future use. Sold a 1953 international I owned and looking for a project.

Would like to find a non-rusted older Jeep cheap. Just before I sold my stores I had the chance to get one and didn't do it due to Covid and the economy. Now I wish I had.

Non-rusted older jeeps are pricey.
The George Foreman Collection?

Non-rusted older jeeps are pricey. The George Foreman Collection? The car I bid on? Yes I think some of the bids are crazy for some of the cars. I don't think that Eldorado is not worth the $31,000 currently bid on it and there is 7 days left. I'm interested in the 41 Ford Deluxe Coupe project. Watching a couple of others that are not part of that collection.

Check out U Ship .com. I had an Older Rust free CJ 7 shipped from Naples to the Big Bend , Taylor County back in the day. don't really remember the price but it was reasonable. On U Ship Different Carriers Bid on your load...worked for me
Well, it really wasn't Rust Free in fact it was a Rust Bucket...but it was still an Older Jeep...so there's that.

Ahh, shipping war's, the program about the you got to be shitting me moments of uship dot com shippers.. some humor in that. For most things I'd guess it's fine.. but I got a laugh at some of the wild shit on there and the folks who wanted it perfect..

That '41 is a nice car. Chrome looks great and the engine compartment is pristine. I see very little I could contribute to the fire.
Hard to believe it's really 99 miles but she looks it.
I can see it going 24/25K. If you could physically look at it probably more. I'd ride to 21/22 and then make tough decisions.
The bid ends today. 3:10 PM.

I saw it and thought about it, still thinking. I am trying to stay under $5k, so I am looking at project vehicles. Plus I want something to do and putting a car together would be that.

Where do you see a picture of it ??
Clear back in 1963, I rode into a drag strip in the trunk of a '41 Ford with Olds V8 and LaSalle trans. Memories.
Be careful. A couple of years ago I wanted to ship 2 outboard motors from NM to FL and contacted U Ship. I got 3 bids very quickly, but also read the gov't cautions and asked all 3 for DOT numbers and insurance info. None responded.
After the awful tangle I went thru with the movers, I was very, very spooky. I ended up leaving the motors in NM.
Hah....just as an add-on, when I got back to NM, it turned out that the storage facility folks had their fingers into my stuff, too, and quite a few things were missing. No way to prove it, but I'm pretty sour about the whole thing.

As far as shipping a car, Ive bought some cars from a guy with a dealers license and he subscribes to a service that he puts in where and what and gets bids for shipping. Always better rates than what the Joe Schmo services anyone can access online are. He even help a friend of mine ship a truck with a blown engine within the state. If you know a guy with a dealers license he might be able to help you. Prices are crazy high these days though. Had a truck shipped from W TX to West Palm Beach a year and a half ago and it was $1800.

Are you two talking about the 48 Lincoln? I expect it to sell for over $20,000 and it does need some work.

Good luck to y'all ...
but I grew up working on old POS cars and have absolutely no wish to do it any more.
I toured the Daytona speedway ... which was interesting but one of the features was changing a tire in a simulated pit stop. I told the guide that I worked at a service station as a teen changing tires every day and that it wasn't fun then and I sure as hell didn't want to do it on my vacation. He just laughed.
