Watched the morning rain water the garden and wash the car.
Met up with the contractor who will finish up the porch & wood restoration.
( The painters will need two coats, every bit on tall ladders. )
His take on the barn out in back was heartening ... it's doable.
Previous restoration was mechanically questionable, though the engineering drawings were approved.
It kept standing for another 10 years, but it needs more support before I'll let the roofers up on top.
The construction date is a "maybe". It appears to be shown on an arial map drawn from a balloon in 1865.
Evidently, the scorch marks on some boards are the result of railroad wrecks and salvaged boxcar siding.
Whether the former resident of the small upstairs room was there voluntarily, is an open question.

Cut the yard around 8:30 this morning and trimmed the hedge. Heat wore me out and I've been recuperating since.

Chased after some groceries, did several honey-dos, worked on the wife’s bike, watched some baseball, early shower and getting ready to do some reading. A really fine day.

Cooked breakfast, did the laundry. Packed for our trip to orlando Monday. Cleaned the pool filter and added 80lbs of salt. Went and picked up dinner and am now fixing to watch the Belmont stakes. May not sound like much but it was a full day for my old ass.

No doubt. Up early at 5:30 and off to West Marine for our safe boating push and free safety inspections. Sweat my ass off there.

Went to Lowes and bought 10 bags of Black Cow compost and sand. Mixed 50/50 and spread to the few bare spots that occur in my lawn year after year (always the same spots). Applied RGS (root growth stimulator with sea kelp) to the lawn, so it can get worked in with the upcoming rains. Like yesterday, the heat has wore my ass out and I don't expect to do too much more today!

I have been taking clients tarpon fishing on the spring tides the last few days. Had the “day off” yesterday so ran to 160’ with the neighbor and got an easy limit of the elusive red snapper plus some other snappers and groupers. Came back and mated for my friend in the kids tournament. Have a new group of clients coming in this afternoon so after a much needed normal night of sleep I’m off to do a Publix run and back to entertaining. Getting horribly behind in my office duties, but way ahead on client satisfaction. Tonight is my last trip until Saturday, which is iffy given the weather. I’m actually looking forward to going to office for a few days and getting caught up.

Sitting in a Panera near UWF drinking my free coffee. That will be the bulk of my day. When the boy is finished doing what he’s doing, we’ll drive to the Gadsen property. Check the cameras feeders etc and if we feel up to it head back to Tampa

Just need to talk the wife into going to pick it up for me.

Edgmont & JP is my back yard. How many miles out of Boca to get to that depth.? He won't answer precisely. But I will tell you anywhere on the SW FL coast, its around 60+ miles to get that deep. That depth of water is similar to the 65' stuff in the same general region. Hard bottom, relic limestone ledges. Snapper and grouper nirvana. The snaps at 160' are so thick you can't get a bait to the bottom to catch a grouper. Most times you get bit on the way down, long before you can lock the drag after free-spooling 50+ yards hoping to feel the bottom.

We left out of O'neils. I have/had some numbers out in this area that were pretty productive, some springs, ledges and a WWII uboat wreck or so I was told. It had collapsed on itself but was still hold some fish.

Yesterday I tried to get dad out in time to go 10 miles out (1-2 ft seas) for some kings. Didn't work so after "fighting the current" said ugh after chart plotter would fire up at 0900 and turned back to the ramp, ran to house and swapped out heavy rods for spinning rods and grabbed 2 beers. Got back down and asked him where he wanted to start. The two answers were 15 miles apart. LoL! He's pretty sharp but i think he likes to mess w me too.
Cracked a beer and enjoyed it when we puttered out of slow zone. Tried a formerly decent fish spot and basically a zero - lil flounder, lil sheep, lil snook. Meanwhile the old man is tossing 6-inch mullet for a real fish. Bounced around a bit and headed into the back country, 88.6 degree water, still pretty clear. Two hours later he gets a small trout and is happy. I hadn't had a bite since game up using shrimp for baby mangroves.
Wind turned and picked-up. Was howling outta the SE as predicted. I put up an umbrella to keep him cool and did a one hand catch as it blew past my head. LoL! Went and tried some formerly good spots in the river and watched hundred upon hundreds of 6-inch mullet cruise on by. Finally I started netting them w my 5-ft net. Got 13 on one throw. Froze 45 for bottom fishing in a couple of weeks.
I'm at work - goofing off between projects. Aint no one else here...

I was taught old school, from serious tough guys. Just always watch the bottom machine. Out there, as you well know, is basically virgin ground. Inshore wrecks and stuff, that you know about, are always worth exploring again, and again. Prior to 2003, ish, I had never caught a true red snapper. Then, it was like, who the hell is making these rules up.

Back in the 60's - early 70's the Scalies (Red Snapper) were thick. Hell, so were the grouper. Somewhere around here (a different laptop) I have some numbers in 20 ft that carry some nice gags in the winter. I had some numbers given to me, bought a couple but found many on my own. Funny, but it's amazing what you can figure out about the bottom.

Dang chicken rode 15 miles to gas up. Then waited at the boat ramp until 9:30 last night until the boys got back. Jumped up and layed on the hood of the truck. Never saw her before, we don’t have any chickens. She got a ride home and was given to one of our neighbors this afternoon.

Is that an egg in the pic? There were 2. Cody called me from the gas station accusing me of playing a joke on him. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.

Goingn to be a long day, cleaned the patio, getting the sand off the patio from the extension, trimmed the yard the yard people cant seem to get it right. Puttered around the house until my son showed up and we raised the tent for the party tonight. Got to pick up the food at 4.30, Mom at 5 and then the family and neighborhood strap hangers show up for the party. Extra bourbon on back up. Mariachis at 7.30. Neighbors warned. My retirement party, you will probably hear it for a few miles.

Got out fishing this morning. Got our 2 man limit of Bluelines (4) and our vessel limit of one small Snowy. Also caught a Blackline Tilefish. I have only caught three of them in 30 years of deep dropping.

Went fishing this morning. Got the one fish per vessel Snowy. Probably the last one this year as the two months season closes Sunday and I don’t go out on weekends. At least it was decent size.

p107 lean code. Plan was just to pull MAS sensor. But once I got that off I was like , might as well pull the throttle body spacer. And since the spacer is off might as well pull the entire throttle body.
Cleaned the throttle body, broke heater core line. Ordered new IAC sensor , new gaskets , and new heater core line. Changed oil on wifes car.
Rained hard here all day so it was the perfect garage day.
