What will I do today, is put a new belt on the lawn mower. Dang thing still pops the belt off. Going to try using a 5/8 thick belt instead of the 1/2 inch. I have tried everything else and cleaned and greased everything on the deck. The motor shaft is not bent. None of the online or youtube solutions have worked. I tried shorter belts and they seem too tight, which is odd considering how loose this one is when the blades are not engaged

Got the butts chilling. Will vacuum seal this afternoon for trip to Dillard this week.
Heading to Union Point, Ga. for my brother's 80th birthday. He'll deliver the sermon at The First Presbyterian Church then have a get to gather at the church.

This damn thing doesn't have a belt tensioner. They welded the pulley that used to be the belt tensioner on this model. There is no way to adjust the belt tension. If this doesn't fix it, i'm thinking of replacing the springs that engage the blades. It doesn't look stretched, but it is the only other thing that could be the problem. that was one youtube suggestion, lower the RPM and only engage or disengage the belt when the deck was lifted. It helps some, but the belt would still still occasionally. I will check the deck to see if it tilted any.

The 5/8 is too tight. Going back to the original belt and check the deck to be sure it is level. But I did get the lawn mowed with the 5/8 belt, so I don't need to worry about it for a couple of weeks.

I also decided to sand down some of the exterior body tub of the Jeep today. Some idiot who owned it used Bondo to cover some rust places, which wouldn't be the end of the world if the moron had prepped the area well. The moron just put it over the rust and paint without taking it down to the metal. Which means more sanding to get to the bare metal and redo those sections. Not any monetary expense, just time and labor. Also, not sure what he used for a primer, but I think he tried using bed liner for the exterior and used the wrong primer because the black coating is coming off way too easily. I can also tell, it was originally a light blue color at one time, which is below the grey primer. Below that appears to be bare metal. Going to strip off all the black stuff since it comes off easy, strip the bad sections to bare metal and fix them correctly, and then hand sand the grey primer to a rough surface and re-prime it with the correct primer for the bed liner material.
I can take the hood and front fenders outside, sandblast to the metal, and start from scratch.

In my experience, most belt throwers have the pulleys mis-aligned. Sometimes by one being higher or lower on their respective shafts, but usually with them out of plane. Put a straight edge across them and see how they look. You may have to tilt/shim the motor and/or blade mounts. Less likely would be loose bolts holding the motor and blade mounts. The adjuster is welded in place....?? Strange. Did you buy this mower new or used ?? Unless they got silly with it, you may be able to use a cut-off wheel to remove the welds. My Dremel with flex drive and 1¾" fiber wheels is perfect for that kind of thing.

My Dremel with flex drive and 1¾" fiber wheels is perfect for that kind of thing. It was purchased brand new from Lowes. Apparently on certain models, for some reason, they changed the belt tensioner from a bolt you could adjust to just welding it to the deck. Not sure why. But the first thing I saw on YouTube was to adjust the belt tension and went and looked for the bolt and realized they had gotten rid of it and welded that assembly to the deck. I have yet to see where they replaced it with another method and the manual does not mention another way to adjust the belt tension. I thought about either trying to remove the welds, but there is no holes to put a bolt in on this model and the deck may not have the support needed to hold it of you just drill a hole in the metal. I need an old deck to look at first. They redesigned the deck on this model from the older models or this may be a Lowes special model. The cable goes to a spring that pulls the belt tight when you engage it. The only other thing it could be is the spring has stretched after six years.

What did i do today??? Pulled and cleaned the pool filter, put in 80lbs of salt. ran the brush around the whole pool and realized i need a new pool guy. Watered my wife's three thousand house and porch plants, went and picked up her meds, started prepping dinner. Ran up to our butcher and got some fresh produce. Did two loads of wash. Now I'm about to tear out the one bathroom sink trap that has been running slow and not responding to the "heavy duty "instant" drain cleaner" Then I'm gonna take a nap

Cut the yard before the rains came and finished up cleaning and reinstalling the DE pool filter that I started yesterday. The o-ring connecting the top and bottom sections gets stretched and then I couldn't get the band, that holds the two sections, back on without leaks. Ended up cutting about an inch off the o-ring and superglueing it together last night. It worked and is not leaking under pressure. I do have a replacement coming for backup though.

Vacation with them is not a vacation when they stay with you. I got a large Airbnb with 3 bathrooms. So I could always have one available. So 10 minutes later I need to go and they are all full of kids have to drive to the park. Driving her from florida was interesting..

Watched the Panthers parade on TV as it rained steady all day. Too old to deal with the crowds. Then picked up some mangoes from the ground and cooked dinner. Not very exciting nor physical. A few Bourbons made their way into the afternoon.

Replaced the flapper in one toilet, installed two new locksets on our exterior doors, patched a couple of holes in the laundry room wall, took a trip to the dump, paid the credit card bills, and last but not least smoked some back ribs for dinner.

Today I hit the gym in the early AM, I cut the grass and edged/trimmed, pulled some weeds and sprayed. Pulled some palm fronds off the trees, straightened up my work bench, brought the TC's back in. And a bunch of other small bs.

Got a last minute invite last night to head offshore on friends 42' Freeman, so of course said yes and cancelled my meetings. Started off in a little over 200', and other having to move a couple of times to get away from the gag & red grouper didn't have any trouble getting our limit of ARS plus a bonus scamp. Sharks were a pest but not too too bad. Also saw a sail free jumping and a wahoo came up but couldn't et either to eat, would have been icing on the cake. Came back in a little ways to a spring and bailed flag yellowtails to end the afternoon. Blew a lower unit on the way in, but still cruised at 50mph on 3 engines. Here is a dock pic. Was a long, good day.
