Today I have to mow the grass and pull weeds in the garden. Stuff grew like crazy while I was gone. Corn is 3 feet tall now. But lots of grass has sprung up that I need to get rid of. I think I am going to fertilize it as well. Never sure how often to fertilize. Tomorrow will do the weed eating and edging. Time to spray for insects outside too.

About ready to take the two 80-somethings out fishing. It is always a good time. Hoping to get a couple reds.

Going to church this morning and this afternoon start putting all my turkey hunting paraphernalia away. Might wash my lucky hunting hat and clean out the little camper. I then will watch the NASCAR race and chill.

Yesterday my wife and I traveled to Roswell Ga to attend an engagement party for my soon to be son in law and daughter. It was great. Son in law planned perfectly. His family and our family came to their house after they left for a walk. We had parked our vehicles down the street from their house. When they returned from their walk he proposed in their front yard. We were looking thru the glass door. Completely surprised my daughter. Son in law reserved the bar for a couple of hours at Uncle Jacks Meat House and they served the Hors d'oeuvres. Leaving the Doubleetree now. In the rain.

Yesterday I woke up early and went turkey hunting. Took a friend and his daughter. She got her first gobbler so that was great. Then I drove back to Tampa and took my wife out on the boat, hit a tiki bar by boat and then came home and grilled supper. Was a great and tiring day. Slept in this morning and we are headed up Gainesville to see a show this evening and back to Tampa in the morning.

I've been trying to regain my strength after the heart attack last October. One of my goals was to get strong enough to do a pull up. I could do five pull-ups before the heart attack. Did one pull up today during my morning workout. It's a small step but it's one step closer.

So far ...not much.
Coffee ... had leftovers for brunch.
Planted a flat of tomatoes ... fingers crossed.
Will probably do stuff in the garden until it warms up.
Might go fishing in the park ... good excuse for a long walk.

Drove back from the cabin. Raining all the way. Dropped granddaughter off.
Home cleaning up, put a load of clothes in.
Fixing to go to the WH, get a Tito n tonic, some wangs and watch the race.

Still cleaning out barns… I have no explanation of why I have so much shit. 2 dump runs, sold a mower, a broke 4wheeler and a 10’ trailer in 24 hours. Got a pile of stuff for a yardsale. Working on it.

I found 4 giant tarps, full of holes, ants and spiders. WHY did I have that? This “circular economy “thing is tough, some shit just goes bad. Sorry Pete!😄

I too find that some stuff goes bad. Ended up getting a solar fan for my dad's garage to try and keep the moisture out.
Well - was a successful fishing trip w the old guys. started off watching 4 boats and 2 paddleboards coming out of where we were going. Went in anyway. We caught needlefish, mangrove snappers, couple small reds, couple catfish, and a 21.5 inch trout. I was throwing shrimp cause wanted to make sure the old guys got some reds and we just didn't find many fish - 2 weeks ago we saw 17 with 12 being in the mid-20 inch bracket.
We found a small school of larger fish but never did see if they were trout or reds, 4-6 fish is my guess based on the water they were pushing in 2 ft of water. Then we hit an area where had a bunch of strikes on topwater zara spook type lures. Out of about 15-20 strikes, one the 21.5 incher got hooked.
They had as much fun having a post fishing trip beer and deciding where & when they are gonna go midweek. Good times.

Today is going to be fun. Gym, then weekly call with the attorneys winding down the company, then a meeting with a friend, then closing on the sale of the old house. Oh and need to get the smoked salmon from yesterday to Mom and get some Tapcon screws to hang the TV in the bedroom. Hanging TVs with my wife is an adventure. It will end up in tears if and until she is happy it is level. And her version of level may or may not coincide with the level.

Did one pull up today during my morning workout. It's a small step but it's one step closer. The pull up thing.......I get that. After the shoulder surgeries......and then after the ablation......something about being able to haul yourself up seems to certify that it's not over yet. Push on......!!! I "wish" I'd been doing pullups. In 2017 I was rockhounding in an old Fluorite mine and found a huge slab of it a few feet down. I rigged a block and tackle; lowered myself down to it and broke off a good sized chunk...and dropped it. It was about 15# and I wasn't about to give it up, so used the ropes (not the block and tackle - not long enuf) and lowered myself about 18 ft to the bottom. (you can see me dangling in top center of the pic) I've always been husky and athletic, so never considered any downside...but I learned. Over the years - and I was well into my 70's here - I'd lost more upper body strength than I realized and when I started to climb out...I couldn't. My arms couldn't move me. Here I was, wilderness area, miles from nowhere, not a soul within 10 or more miles and stuck in the bottom of a pit. The chunk of Fluorite didn't help...but damned if I'd abandon it now. Finally got set up just right with rope gripped in both hands as high as I could reach, then dangled from it while I got the trailing ends wrapped around my ankle/foot as we'd done in high school rope climbing in gym class. It was awkward. When my weight came on the rope - doubled 1/2" braided synthetic - the stretch nearly had my butt on the ground. It did work. Slowly and with enormous difficulty, I climbed out of that S.O.B. and nearly kissed the rock at the top. Keeping in shape at 70 is difficult. I'm finding/have found that at 80+ it's nearly impossible. I've had to tone my activities way down lately. Attachments:

Today......burned a 10 acre section......not very well.....to much humidity and the vegetation is so darn green and the ground moisture still so high that it just would not work. Had the permit for another 9 acres next to it but let that go. Yesterday.....put a good bit of effort into getting things set up for tomorrow when we've some help lined up and a 130-140 acre section of sand hill set to light up. But.....what a miserable 4-5 hours it was. Should have taken about a hour to run the disks around a area and then rake/blow off about a quarter mile of fire line on the east side. But......somebody did not see the barbed wire pile that that same somebody had cut loose from a fence 2 years ago to provide access on the last burn. Well over a hour fighting that mess. Hard to get it out of the disks when the only set of wire cutters is a little 5" one that is about wore out. And then.....just to add insult to misery......two of the 1 1/4 shaft bearings on one of the gangs cracked such that the whole nonsense locked up on that one. Couldn't fix that out in the woods.....needed real tools to get things loose. Almost two hours at the barn......frustrating. And the darn races......don't see a reason they'd crack and shatter like that except that the metal was brittle. And sadly.....the two I had on hand to put back in are from the same lot. This'll be fun...... Attachments:

Ben, I’ve been cleaning out my momma’s house in Keystone. Got a stockpile of rags and oil and other goodies you like. I’ll reach out eventually and figure how to drop it off.

Getting a aircraft engine ready to go on another boat and decided to change oil and clean the filter. Broke a bolt for filter housing and tried everything to get it out. Heat, welding a nut on it. Even a extractor that I broke off. Ended up making a drill jig and drilling out the hardened bolt and the extractor then putting a insert in. Fifteen minute job turned into over a day.

We put up about 50 or 60 lbs of squash and zucchini. Wife boils it and we put it in 1 qt freezer bags. Just finished our last bag from last spring. It’s nice to combine it with onions and a bit of seasoning. Always ready to go. Planning to pick blueberries tomorrow while she’s at the beach.
