Finally updated my pic. That’s a 1977 Grand Prix SJ Pontiac 400 engine and 400 trans. Had it since 1980. Redid it around 2000 Just mainly sits in garage. First nice car I had. AC and auto trans. Brought my daughter home from hospital when she was born. Sentimental value for me. Just thought I would share

Fine looking ride. Keep it forever!
I only wish I still had my first new car. 1967 Chevelle SS. 396 375HP. 4 speed Muncie. Malibu blue in color. Black bucket seats.

I had that same Chevelle in yellow with a black vinyl top, black interior. Great car but I kept bending pushrods and got rid of it.

I picked up a 76 SJ a few months ago. 59k miles. Been parked since 1982. I'll get around to bringing her back to life shortly.

Kevin. Keep it away from the coast.
Cars rust up here but it isn’t anything like what happens near the coast.
Again that is a fine vehicle. 👍

I had the 73 model SJ. I think it was a 350 engine. It drank the gas. It had a factory Craig 8 track player mounted on the hump behind the bucket seats and console. I totaled it out.

That 400 engine was the last of the great GM small blocks that started with the 265 c.i. in 1955.
265, 283, 327, 350 and the 400. 327 was the best of the bunch.

Totally different engine Ferris. He said Pontiac 400 not sbc. Pontiac did not have big or small. 326 - 455 all had the same block dimensions.

Funny thing. Back around the 1977 time frame. Pontiac was running short on the 400 engines. They started putting 403 Oldsmobile engines in their cars including Trans Ams. Remember a lawsuit and they gave those owners a check for that. Can’t remember how much. Probably 600 or so. Back then Pontiac motors were all big block engine. Even the 326. Another funny difference in Chevy and Pontiac is the mechanical fuel pump drive on Pontiac is an egg shape metal wheel that bolts to top timing gear. Went to a dealer around 1983 to get one. Figured mine was old and worn. Parts guy was adamant that it drives off of camshaft. Told him to look in his book
