I have been casting for shrimp to fish in St John River. What is the name baitfish I am catching in my net? The fish is about 3-4 inches long. Casting deep water usually 15-19 feet.

Buddy said greenies and mojarra were thick at matanzas last week. He also said the water was wayyy cooler than it has been.(over the weekend) He got a couple very respectable mangos and an upper slot red Sunday afternoon.

It appears that you are up the river a ways.......someplace south of Jacksonville. It's one of the shad species. Does not live well in the live well when it's hot as they are oxygen hungry.
But....use them FIRST as reds and all the rest will eat them quite well.
