Hey everyone,
Long story short...I was a semi-active FS Forum member many years ago (mostly in the NE, Panhandle, Hunting and FW Fishing sections). One of the forum crashes happened around the time I moved from FL to SC and I never re-registered. I don't remember my original username. Happy to see that this place has been reincarnated.
The FS forum is where I first learned about shrimping in the St Johns River. My wife and I ended up going several times a year - for several years - when we lived in the area -- and we caught piles of shrimp from my old 1436 Alumacraft. We've got kids (and a bigger boat) now, and were just talking about how we'd like to try our hand at it again. Tentatively planning on mid-September. A few questions for those in the know:
-Will mid-Sept be too early to catch decent-sized ones? Or should we try to push our trip a little later? -Where is a good place to get bait and rock salt? I recall that we used to buy it from a little hardware store in Green Cove. Is that place still there? -Any other advice/recommendations (aside from keeping an eye on the reports, weather, etc.)
Thank you in advance!

From what I can tell from the other reports BSWIV mainly, August they will be getting some size.

We do good in Sept but depends on the rain. I can't recall the name of the country store in GC but its still there.. at least last year it was and you gotta stop at Woodpeckers for BBQ lunch!
