Florida teen arrested for waving machete toward women at polling site: police

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — An 18-year-old Florida man was accused of brandishing a machete to intimidate voters at a polling location on Tuesday.
The Neptune Beach Police Department was called to a library where a group of teenage boys, including Caleb James Williams, gathered to “antagonize” people on the “opposing political side.”

In a statement obtained by NBC affiliate WTLV, the Duval County Democratic Party claimed that the boys were holding Donald Trump flags and threatening Kamala Harris supporters.
Police said Williams pulled out a machete and waved it at a 71-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman. A photo released by police appears to show the teenager smiling and holding the weapon in the air.
“Saying your piece is your First Amendment right, but that goes out the window the second that you raise a machete,” NBPD Police Chief Michael J. Key Jr. said.
Williams was charged with aggravated assault on a person of 65 years or older and improper exhibition of a firearm or a dangerous weapon.
“Violence and intimidation have no place in our democratic process,” Duval County Democrats said.
