That both the left and the right haul out those twisted and possibly not quite rational souls from the tails of that distribution as a way to negatively paint all the many more millions in the sane middle is more of a indictment of the political class, and of the media who plays along!, than it is of the vast majority of us in the middle who get the mud slung upon us. As my mother told us......"You can't judge a whole family based on one crazy uncle."..........maybe something we'd all be better off keeping in mind. |

A rational and reasonable and thinking man knows good and well that by doing good, by protecting from violence even those who you stridently disagree with, by those actions you stand a far greater chance of bridging some of the gap, of moving the other man by exposing him to your humanity and your character. Sure.....it often fails.....but it is the right thing to do. And, sometimes, now and again, we, when exposed in the reverse situation discover much the same, that maybe we are wrong about a thing or two. Just a thought...................... |

No defense necessary, either uphold the laws and serve the public, or don't be in a position to do it.
That means political beliefs have no bearing on the job description or judgement calls that are inherent to it.
Anyone In the public sector is held to a higher standard. It goes with being in the public sector.
