What to fish for? And How? Forecast isn't bad - might be a good weekend to take an old guy out for trout, head to a diff area for trout/reds/snook/snapper/flounder, head out of Ponce for kings, head out of Canaveral grab a few pogies and troll around a bit for mahi & stretch distances to try for AJ off a wreck or something, head 3.5 hrs south and try deep dropping? I don't have a boat suitable for Sebastian Inlet, or would go fish for grovers off there. Whatcha think is best option?

If I had my way, I'd head out for vermilion snapper, black seabass and whatever bycatch came along with that plan.

If I had my way, I'd head out for vermilion snapper, black seabass and whatever bycatch came along with that plan. That's solid. An old (80-something) buddy is able to fish after about 3 or 4 months of medical issues. We're gonna go somewhere new to us and see about getting a couple of reds. I texted yesterday to see how he was feeling and turned into a fish trip. Maybe he'll do well enough to go offshore next week.

We drove about an hour north, following a hot tip and struck out. 1 snook, 2 snappers, 2 catfish.
There were kayakers behind every corner. That was frustrating. It was like a kayaking festival.
Then we said pfff! Lets go catch something.
Went to familiar waters and caught 25-30 trout, kept 4 at 15.5, 17, 18, 22.5 inches. Threw trout back between 8 and 16 inches.
Good but long day, and about 200 miles driven - left his place at 0530 back by 5 pm.
