I’m sure the tds folks would welcome it, but let’s say between now and election if there were, god forbid, something permanent were to happen to 45, what would happen? Ballots are already out
Would they have a redo at a later date?
His running mate would be the defacto candidate?

The RNC can either reconvene the convention and choose a new candidate or the Party leaders can pick one. Vance could run as the replacement and other candidates like Haley might step forward. The DNC rules say the committee picks the replacement after conferring with the democratic governors. Ballots would be redone to reflect the new candidate and rushed out.
I would guess, depending on how close it was to election day, congress and the judicial branch might get involved to determine how things would work. 45 days out would be one issue, but something like 10 days before the election would be difficult. It would be new ground.
There is no redo at a later date. Due to the fact the Electoral College votes on December 17th and the states must have certified results at least 6 days before that, it makes it impossible for an election at a later date.
The real sticky issue is, what happens if the candidate for President were to die after the election and before Congress meets January 6th. There is no legal definition of exactly when the candidate becomes the President-elect. Is it after the November election, after the electoral college votes, or is it when Congress certifies everything on January 6th? We would certainly be creating new laws and procedures if that happened.

haley could step in a week before the election and still win in a landslide, nobody with a ounce of common sense believes kamala is the best choice. without our biased crooked media hiding everything about her she would be behind by 30 points.
