I don't know about political but it's a pretty stupid law.

That's not really political. He was fined because he ignored a prohibition notice by the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE). I'm sure some will try and make it political though!

Some will just ignore the overreach of government and think it not political.

Do folks really want the govt telling you not to take your grandkid for a spin on a tractor or atv or go cart or ride in back of pickup?
England has some real sorry-ass liberal laws. What's next - you can't eat cause people choke on food and die?
The other thing was the neighbor videoing it and calling LEO. WTF?

I don't know about political but it's a pretty stupid law. It is a needed law. It is not unusual for children to be injured while doing farm work. I have some personal experience with being injured by mechanical failure while working in agriculture as a child. It left me with a life long profound disability. Grandpa needs to pay attention to the law. Lock him up in a metal cage for 30 days and let him think about it.

It is not a "needed" law, it is nanny-stating. Children are killed or maimed in every single activity in life. It is laws like this that result in very bad government overreach.
Lets make it a crime to fill a 5 gallon buckets with water if there is a child in the house. Lets make it a crime to put a child in a bathtub. Lets make it a crime to allow a child near a bike... 94 are killed every year.
Personal experience does not validate government overreach.

Sure children do get maimed ...
just a fact of life and there's nothing we can do about it ... those child seat laws are just govt. overreach ... just like seat belts in cars and mandatory gun storage rules.
why have any laws at all ... just let there be a free-for-all and let the chips fall where they may.
protect the unborn but fuck 'em once they pop out of the womb.

I mean I hit 140 mph the other day and I'm still here to tell the tale. And while we're at it, why do we have to be 21 to buy alcohol? Other countries allow kids to buy alcohol from the age of 14. We should stop the government from imposing a ridiculous age limit there too, right? I mean you can get married, own a shotgun, sign up and pay the ultimate price in the armed forces after all aged less. But try and buy a can of Bud light and you're a criminal! How ridiculous is that?

It's just as prevalent here.
