Riding on my buddy's 36 Cape Horn tomorrow. Gonna try to hunt up some snapper other than ARS. And kill it least 1 trigger fish for everyone on the boat. Since season is open we probably won't be able to find a legal one. We might be running long to some spots in about 650'-700'if the weather guy lucks out and is correct with his forecast. 75 miles is not fun even in 2-3. We saw a blue a week ago close to that far, but didn't have anything rigged to pull by him.

Sounds like a great adventure. Hope yall had electric reels for that 300+ water.
It'll be interesting to see what yall get into out that deep.

Weather was great, but a couple of crew didn't get to the marina until about 9:00 am, so we stayed in closer. We had a decent day, 4 nice ars (for hire boat so legal) an assortment of mingos, mangos, red snapper, several lesser aj's a bunch of short triggers and literally about 25 or so red grouper. All but two were small, (8'-12) or so. I think we got in the red grouper kiddie school or something. The other two were 26" and 18". all sent safely back down with the descending device. Had a nice 10 mph breeze to keep it from getting crazy hot and good company on the boat. Gonna try to get off and do the 70 mile stuff later in the week.
