Can anyone put us on a track to how to obtain the permit. Want the grandson to get his first deer this year

Probably first step would be complete a hunter safety course. They are generally reciprocal between states.

I've airways just bought my son a youth non resident sportsman's combo. Think it's $100 and they can hunt, fish, whatever for a year. He has his hunters safety course from FL,fyi.
Pretty simple rules without a pile of bullshit on top. The way it should be.

Why Georgia?
Plenty of excellent WMAs here in North Florida and the Panhandle for him to shoot his first. My oldest shot his first last year after. Nice mature 8 pt on a muzzleloader hunt here in the panhandle.
You might have to put some time in, but that is what it’s all about.
Also if the kid is under 16 they can hunt a bunch of quota hunts without a quota as long as the hunt allows exempt hunters.

GA has like 1 million deer and they are easy to hunt.
Got no idea about panhandle hunting but central FL is tough.

He will be 17 in November

GA has like 1 million deer and they are easy to hunt. Got no idea about panhandle hunting but central FL is tough. Georgia deer hunting is good, but so is the Florida panhandle. Plenty of deer and big ones to boot. |
