Friends daughter is in college in south Florida. Dorm was infested with roaches. Sent her some laboratory grade boric acid powder. They spread it as directed. Took a couple months and they were gone. Official at school said they were trying to get rid of them for many years. They now use it in all of their buildings

Want to rid your house of almost all insects? Boric acid powder. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Once in place it will kill insects for years as the dead insects are eaten by living insects and that kills the insects again. However, it takes killing several generations of roaches before a building is completely cleaned out I leave them alone for the most part. I have spiders and geckos to handle the other insects.

But in the other hand, I will stop and get some Mexican food in some dusty parking lot from an old lady selling tacos and burritos out of a trunk of a 78’ Chevy Nova. Can’t beat them! I’m sure the homemade salsa will kill most germs known to man. 👍

I owned and operated a restaurant service business for many years and I think I saw it all. I took care of "everything" in a restaurant/bar/convenience store, etc.
"Most" restaurants were OK and took reasonable care of their places. A few were disgusting. Ethnic restaurants tended to be either very clean or filthy dirty...mostly clean.
Most inspectors were conscientious and worked hard. A few were on power trips and very arrogant. Hard to deal with those.
One Chinese restaurant in particular was so bad I wouldn't even drink out of the glasses. Another was spotless. My favorite Mexican restaurant was spotless. Go figure.

It happens but given the amount of restaurants it's a small percentage. Anyone can cherry pick trying to make a point.

Once I watched as an attendant washed the ashtrays in the three compartment sink and then proceeded to wash the hiball glasses in the same water. Yuck

As we learned in the food safety classes, bleach will kill anything. 95% of the restaurants you visit are as clean or cleaner than your house. The employees are likely to do anything, It is the management that will make the difference. I have had to get on to employees for all sorts of food safety issues over the years. The most common was not washing their damn hands. As far as the food safety inspectors go, some can be a real pain in the ass.

Most people use to much bleach. I watched it on the news from the hospital. It's supposed to be one tablespoon per gallon of water. Not much at all.
