I know the 9 Thousand acres behind my house real well and don,t usually scout much anymore. This year they Clear cut most of it so i'll be looking around real soon. The swamps and Hammocks are all still there so all I 'll really do is wait 2 days after a hard rain and drive the Dim roads real slow to check local movement.. The 2 best Bucks I shot last year were within 500 yards of my house.

I scouted the glades yesterday, saw 2 young bucks both were hard horned, and several does. Only one doe didn’t have fawns. All fawns were out of spots already. I expect to see rut activity in a month or so.

I expect to see rut activity in a month or so. yea the rut has been in july last couple years was out saturday afternoon checked 1 spot in area 3 couple nice rubs put out a cam. checked 2 spots in holeyland one area was littered with rubs as usual but other area only found 1 fresh rub but lotta game trails and tracks where there was no water, went to check on the 3 hooved big boy in rotenburg found some huge tracks and buck rubs and 2 scrapes dont worry i chopped down the scrub trees he was destroying with a machete so road scouters wont see them. not sure if hes the same buck thats been in that area last few years but judging by size of tracks and rubs gotta be a nice one camera left there as well. since its the only south early season wma left without needing a quota i hope they at least let us bow hunt it. exact location not ready to be burned yet waiting on quota results. only seen 3 deer but it was between 1 and 4 pm 194 degrees out.

I would have no problem if they opened archery in July, but that will probably never happen. I’m thinking we will see quota results no sooner than Wednesday with all the fwc employees celebrating Juneteenth today. Half will probably call in sick tomorrow from all the bud lights they consumed.
