We just bought a Speed Queen washer. American made. 7 year warranty. To replace a Samsung piece O crap, only 4 years old. Should have listened to my Mom 4 years ago... and just bought this one in the first place. Who does 7 year warranties anymore?

My GE says made in America, but I know some parts were made elsewhere.

Weather Tech automotive products Made in Bolingbrook, Illinois 95% of their stuff is supposedly made in USA, but some items are made in Germany. Better than China, but not 100% USA. It is almost impossible to find anything 100% made from scratch in the USA.

Gville has a really great store called Life Unplastic. My wife and I buy much if not most of our household and personnel items and use refillable glass containers (laundry detergent, dishwasher and hand soaps), bath soap and shampoo bars, dental floss, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Lots of great stuff that pretty much eliminates plastic packaging. Most everything is US made/grown, Florida made and much is locally made. www.lifeunplastic.com/www.lifeunplastic.com/shop/FLORIDA-MAKERS-c123845692
A Zero Waste Shop + Full-Service Refillery
Life Unplastic is on a mission to find sustainable solutions and alternatives that will simplify our efforts to break free from the disposable, toxic plastic and excess packaging so prevalent in our lives today.
The primary goal of our zero waste refillery is to promote a reduction in waste produced while still making sustainable, eco-friendly products accessible, convenient and affordable.
If you are looking for ways to reduce waste in your life and be a part of the solution, you have found youself in the right low-waste place.

They make a good product but the capicity is small. It seems that almost all products will have some parts made outside the US. I think that 80% of the product must be USA parts and made in the USA but it's been so long I have forgotten.

Most items mass produced in the world (not just the US) are assembled with parts from all over the world.
It might say "Made in the USA" but it's really just assembled here.

It is almost impossible to find anything 100% made from scratch in the USA. I try very hard to buy products made here. That being said I have few qualms about buying from another industrialized country with high Unionization rates like Germany, Canada, and even Japan. If I have to compete I want to compete on a semi level playing field. Not against 3rd world child and sweatshop labor. Also Samsung may make great phones and TVs but their appliances are shit. Total shit. I got a huge discount on a set through work. They lasted a year. The problems all seem to be related to the circuit boards. I have replaced the circuit board in my dishwasher 3 times in 5 years. I got so good at taking apart the dryer I coukd completely tear it down replace the thermistor and fuses and put it back together in 30 minutes. I finally bought an American made set like I should have to begin with. No frills no buttons and digital read out just a plain Jane washer and dryer and they both work and have worked for several years now.

I buy crap off Temu all the time , Cheap and delivered. It's so cheap if it breaks in a year I just throw it out on the bridge over the River. It floats downstream to the Ocean Plastic Zone and Cyclist yuppie buddy's scoop it up in old junky trawlers and think their changing the feakin Planet. Jobs for old Hippies and little Kids in China as well. We Are The World Win Win..

It's kinda ironic and funny that the brick and mortar stores and malls who sold all that Chinese shit and clothes at extremely inflated prices are now crying because they have been bypassed with Amazon and Temu and others. Cheaper prices for the same shit without paying all their bloated overhead.

We have not gone this far but do focus on thrift stores and garage sales for what we can. Using what has already been produced so long as it is still usable is a positive.

Damn all the nonsense. I'm going to consume until I'm dead, and I'm going to take the easy route on my trip to the grave.

I believe our security cams and system onboard my tug are now 100% from the USA. We originally spent about $120k plus per tug on surveillance equipment but when the US Navy discovered a Chinese part somewhere in the mix they required us to change out the entire set up before they allowed us to move their vessels.
I don't know how much the new system and components cost but the whole thing was a colossal waste of money, and I'm not sure who all is spying on who anymore.

I still wear clothes I bought in the 1980s ... How many polyester leisure suits do you own? Or is that too early 1980? Bomber jackets and Parachute pants more your style?

Damn all the nonsense. I'm going to consume until I'm dead, and I'm going to take the easy route on my trip to the grave. I was all about save the small hardware stores form the big box store. Then save radio shack now save the small outboard repair shops and the live bait shops It's futile, sure going to miss them.

The old man hung out in a beer joint that had a bait shop in the rear. I spent many an afternoon counting red wrigglers and pink worms for a nickel a cup. I hated counting those darn crickets. They'd get in your hair, up your sleeves, down your shirt.

They make great TVs but appliances, esp something you expect to last 20 years. I have Electrolux W/D. Bosch appliances are made in North Carolina. I am sure the circuit boards are not made in the US but maybe in the future. Lots of stuff made in the US still.

I always try to patronize the small independents and buy quality goods, but I also need a respectable balance of convenience and reasonable affordability. However, being that my time is more valuable to me than my wallet, affordability generally takes a backseat to convenience. Whoever has the easiest way to get a decent product into my hands usually wins my business.
There are certainly some things you just have to bite the bullet on and refuse to compromise over, but buying shit like shower curtains ain't one of 'em.

We use an outdoor shower (no shower curtain needed]...haven't taken a shower inside at home in 8 years. Have to dust the tub, no mildew anywhere. Our shower is at the base a a really good fruiting date palm and the shower is filled with air plants, ferns and orchids. On Tuesdays I can hear jazz from the pub a block away. Showering inside sucks.
