Just looking at the way the main snake was holding his/her head. No doubt what it is.
They all fighting over the puddle?

I just love it when the woods start drying up , so many things to see. I've walked miles of my woods in the creek bottoms seeing just what you've shown. Good job Ben.

Naw - the snakes want nothing to do with us and will run away if you just go clomping around. Don't step over stuff but go around and you'll be fine.

Reminds me of a summer in SC. It got really dry and the only place that held water were a few deep spots in the ditches along the roads. There were 15-20 cottonmouths in one hole. My friend at the time hated snakes and unloaded a couple of clips from his AR on them. Most of them didn't make it. I don't mess with snakes because at the end of the day they want nothing to do with you.

Best thing to do with a snake is just go on your way.
Everyone should teach their kids/grandkids to respect them, leave them alone and that there is no reason to fear them. They serve a purpose just like we and every other creature does on this earth.

Mom was an ER nurse, most snake bites were white males on the hands and arms. Hold my beer.

Yep.........moccasins especially will just sit at times..... Most moccasins I see are hightailing it or have been cornered, say up against a fallen tree. Yrs back I was doing a site walk thru and saw "black tar" on the other side of a fallen tree - was too big to hop over so walked around and the tar was gone when I got there. Figure it was an indigo snake after seeing a few in later years. It was hiding behind the log. Amazing how many critters do stuff like that.

Respect Not Fear Thru Knowledge... Thats what the sign said over the door to the Gas House at Ft' Knox Kentucky in Basic Training said years ago... I use to catch and sell snakes , Afraid of None , Now I just look at them and carry on.
