A few posts on a thread in Off Topic that I deleted, mentioned spending by one party or the other. One member said they didn't know who spent more, which made me wonder why that person should be allowed to vote. There was also a remark about buying votes.
To set the record straight.
Both parties love to spend money. There has never been a President or congress that has reduced spending. Spending increases every year except right after a year like 2009 or 2020 and 2021, or war years when spending went crazy. Both sides are responsible for the spending and the deficits and the debt. You can't say one side spends more than the other.
You might not like what one side spends money on compared to what the other side spends it on, but they both love to spend money. Neither one cares about reducing spending. I doubt it is even possible to reduce it. I would be happy if they would just freeze it at current levels for 4 or 5 years and let revenue catch up a little.
Both parties love to buy votes. Trump is currently promising to lower taxes to buy votes. He can't do it without bankrupting the country faster, but he is promising it. Every candidate for office promises to not touch social security, which means raising taxes, but they don't say that part. Biden is hoping for the youth vote with free college loans.
There is little difference between the parties in attempts to buy votes. That is a candidates favorite tactic. There is no difference in how much they spend. Both sides spend love to spend as much as possible without concern for the deficit or the debt.

Seems pretty spot on for the most part. I think under Clinton, there were a couple of years with no deficit spending.

Seems pretty spot on for the most part. I think under Clinton, there were a couple of years with no deficit spending. That was due to increases in Revenue, expenses still increased every year. Clinton increased taxes and we had the dotcom economy.

One bird has a left wing and a right wing. Both wings operate under the same head.
As long as the free range tax payers keep fighting each other the Bird reigns supreme.
