Most of us are a little bit older and playing baseball was part of life. I’m a lefty so I played first base and pitched, but in my earlier years, I played all three outfields. I was a forward in basketball and played QB in football but I was skinny when was young and it was hard to meet the weight requirements when playing junior football.

Little first base, and some center field. I was not a very good hitter.

Started playing tee ball. Played catcher (till I took a fastball from a future NC State starting quarterback to the balls at 11) then shortstop with a bit of 3rd base. Throw right handed, switch hitter.
Stopped playing when I was 13 and switched to soccer. Oddly enough I'm left footed and right handed -- which might explain a lot.

Another lefty here. First base mostly, some second and center field. I tried out to pitch one time, I don’t know what happened but I was just on fire that night. Coaches were overjoyed excited. I lasted half inning the next game, completely came apart… and that was the end of my pitching career.

I am left-handed as well. I played at the local Boy's Club. I played left field primarily and shortstop sometimes. I was a hitter and could whack the ball, usually batted 4th. Coach put me on second base once and I sucked. Never played any of the bases after that.

Short stop and pitching until something snapped in my shoulder and I couldn’t throw well anymore. Then they switched me to first base.
My big old fat azz was slim and fast as heck. The coach had to yell at me for trying to steal bases too much. Funny thing is I was successful about 90% of the time.
Now I can hardly walk. The years have been hard.

We didn’t have little league where I grew up. I played a lot of neighborhood sandlot ball and became a pretty decent athlete. After relocating to a larger community, I paid my brother to play pitch with me and made the high school team as an out fielder. Coach saw my arm and converted me to a pitcher. Played American Legion baseball as a pitcher. After HS played fast pitch and then slow pitch softball. I was back roaming center field and was selected on the city league all star team. JC coach came to see me and based on my defense offered me a partial scholarship with a potential for a full ride if I could improve my hitting (had suffered during the pitching years). Needless to say, I couldn’t hit a curve or a fastball. I could hit an underhanded lob a mile. I played a lot of softball on tournament teams. Used to play in all night tournaments and open league tournaments around Thomasville Georgia for the high level of competition. I hung up my glove for good when the kids came along and coached their teams.

Little League is a good memory for me before I had to join the real world. Junior league football was the same.

Used to play soft ball w a group of vets when i was about 12. They taught hitting, running, throwing...
Won a softball throwing contest after that 300+ feet.
The had auto accident a joined work team. Bastards put me as catcher and i couldn’t turn torso. Threw the bat at the 3rd baseman on what would have been a double. Hung head and walked off.
Cant throw well these days, thinking about practicing.

Not that anyone cares, but I didn't get to play baseball. Wasn't too happy about it. Parents got divorced when I was very young so I got shuttled back and forth which didn't lend itself to baseball, practice, games, or otherwise.
Good news is/was I stayed with dad on the weekends, whom I hate to this day. Got fishing experiences that were unimaginable, so not the worst trade-off.
Not that it matters, but I think from my generation, at least twenty kids from our County made it to the majors, if not more. Tarp would know better. I'm talking Gooden, Sheffield, and many others.

We had leagues and ball fields all over in the 70’s/80’s( palm beach county). Everyone played ball. If you had a 10-12yo league, there would be 12 games every Saturday at just one of the multi field parks. One of the greatest memories is that most everyone still knew each other back then. I had the same coach for almost 10 years, tball thru jv. Who else had a coach that wore 3/4 sleeve PBR t shirts and chainsmoked marlboro reds in your face?

At one time or another I played every position. Mostly 1st, 2nd, and catcher
