Went to the Gadsen property yesterday Threw in a food plot, a small bean plot, loaded up the feeder, trimmed shooting lanes,, changed Treestand/sticks straps, cut a tree down, and cut some firewood logs.
And got fuc*in ate up by ticks. It doesn’t matter what I do; pyrthymin on my clothes, spray on my skin. I just get bit.
Oh and I hope the rain comes today they said would

If you’re seeing bites but no tick still there, that sounds more like chiggers.
Never been bitten by a tick that wasn’t stuck to me right where it bit.
Did you have a lot of ticks stuck in you?

The up side is you have a good excuse to ask for a tick check when you get home.

Spraying w permethrin worked great for me this season. I followed the directions and secured my pants legs with ties to use a second line of defense.

I get whelps also if they bed down. Have a couple silver dollar size ones on my waist and back. They really start to itch after a hot shower and a couple days

Rub some cortisone creme on the bite, helps with the itch.

I think my blood is toxic. I rarely get them and when one does sink his proboscis into my hide, he literally moves and tries for a better spot. Last one that actually stayed with me was about 7 or 8 years ago at my buttocks waist area. He nailed me twice. I finally caught him moving to a third spot nearby. It's wild how a buddy next to me will get inundated with them and they avoid me. You guys should prolly consume more whiskey and red meat, and lay off the protein shakes and granola bars.

the older i get the wimpier my body gets, shorts and t shirts all weekend in the glades as a youngster, walking around with wet jeans no ball or ass rash and then long pants, heavy boots ,long sleeves, body armor, helmet, backpack, thigh plates, all while walking miles in 100 plus degrees or in a truck with no ac dripping sweat all day and night long, clothes soaking wet and stinking for days, no issues with bugs or rashes till about 40 years old. today 2 fire ants bite my ankle it swells up and looks like a vampire bit me. ghost rashes that pop up outa nowhere. blew out my acl tripping in hog rooting, push 1 branch outa the way my forearms bleeding, corn starch is one of my emergency items along with cortisone 10 creme and afterbite itch eraser pen in my backpack. im such a puss these days a tick bite would probably kill me .

I’m experiencing the same thing meat. Walking too far on a Saturday through waist deep cypress ponds and across the flat woods, leaves me with leg cramps and miscellaneous cuts and scratches. The funny thing is if I don’t get up and go, I’m a miserable cuss.

Worst I ever got eaten alive was St Mark's during a archery hunt. Shot a deer ans what I thought was a good shot turned into a spot here and spot there blood trail. I was hunting a hammock right on the edge of a salt marsh doing the crawl on the old hands and knees thing looking for blood. I don't know if it was chiggers or red bugs or what but I ended up with 300 to 400 bites on my arms and legs...i was miserable for months from all the bites.
