So… totinos and natty lights.😉 That shit ain’t cheap is it? Thank god my kid can live at the house. He has bright futures and everything, we wouldn’t be able to swing it unless we racked up some serious debt. Derail- it is not. My daughters also on bright futures. Made a deal with the kids that I would get them through college debt free. Every penny my wife made this summer went to paying the lease for a year. Good on your son for getting into a top 5 public university. And piccadillo looks like taco meat. I pay more for his parking space, than I payed for rent when I was his age. And good on your daughter, it takes effort. So does being good parents, which you are.(but I knew that already)

So what’s the deal with this picadillo? 4 or 5 guys make it here on the regular. Do you serve it over rice?

Over rice, with rice, in empanadas. It’s just seasoned meat. Pretty versatile. I just like it with a side of black beans and rice. Some people put potatoes, raisins in it. If you get the basic ingredients, you can just go with it.

If I had a ripe avocado right now, I’d be in heaven. I’ll get by though. Attachment Deleted

if you like capers they are good to add with picadillo too. I am not a fan of the raisins in my picadillo.

My girlfriend requested spanish bean soup for dinner tonight. It is both of ours favorite. So the on the menu is..... soup with a Greek salad, peel and eat shrimp and crab legs. The bonus to the greek salad is the recipe I use calls for potato salad. So I am making a big bowl of tater salad because my daughter (who always requests it) and grandson are coming in town today to visit for the week.

She also requested a omelet this morning. I loaded it with chopped onion, mushrooms, green and red peppers, tomatoes, cheese and smoked sausage . Attachment Deleted

Are you serious? 10 out of 10 on those ribeyes. Yeah man, thanks. I nailed them tonight. We bought the boneless rib roast and I cut it in half and then halved the halfs. Left about a perfect 1.25-1.5" thick cut. Set em on the pan, lightly kosher salted, pepper, a little Dale's (full sodium!). Both sides. Rested to room temp and threw them on a 500° plus grill for about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Topped em with sauteed onions, garlic, portobellos. Steak perfection here tonight boys and girls.

Your steaks and that prime rib both look great. I was lazy and the wife wanted Jersey Mikes for some reason. I got the big kahuna cheesesteak. It was alright, but left me for wanting something better like what you got going on.

Chicken Fried Steak at the Dixie Grill in Live Oak. Good stuff. Next time I’d get it with the gravy on the side. The gravy is good but it overpowers the steak. The cuts I got without gravy were stupendous.

Attachment DeletedThese'll be picked out here shortly......crab cakes and a little of the mangrove left from last night. Already sounding good......and it'll sound even better once I finish sweating in the garage and sit down with a cold Pabst.....after 5:00....kind of boring that way......

As my daddy used to say, “put that steak on top of your head and your tongue will beat your brains out trying to get to it”.

I’m not ashamed of fighting a craving for beanie weenies for a week. Grilling dogs, 1/2# of bacon, 1 sweet onion and dollops of whop biscuits in bush’s original beans going in the oven. I’ll spare y’all the pictures. I can’t resist, this shit is good…

4ward, I’m not gonna lie that looks damn good! I might have to make some this week. Thank you for rolling that beautiful bean footage. As a side note one of our friends is an heiress the Bush family (I think her grand parents were the founders). Her husband is CFO of one of the largest public companies in Tampa. He is actually a conch and was born and raised in Marathon of all places. Needless to say they ain’t hurtin!

I add brown sugar and a dba of mustard to my recipe and use Van Camps pork and beans. Pour off the juice. I try not to use bacon these days either. I cook the onion in butter or if using bacon, then in the bacon grease. Pour off the grease and add the beans, weenies, mustard, and brown sugar. If in a hurry, cook on the stove, otherwise in the oven. Only use Nathans or Hebrew National weenies.
