Had some ribeyes and the last crawfish tails from last season. My wife is leaving tomorrow for a month in the Philippines and she won’t be eating that there. I’m staying home with pet duty and the 24 hour trips to get there aren’t my cup of tea anymore unless it’s a necessity. A month solo? Heck Yeah! I'm not a Viking although I have some Swedish bloodlines. I may fish more, smoke a few more cigars and have a couple extra drinks but as far as chasing women, those days are gone. I had more than my fair share in my youth but am loyal to my wife nowadays. Age brings different values and wisdom.

Lucky for me I came home from work this morning to my son finishing up on his very first pork butt smoke. It turned out fantastic. He musta been paying attention after all.

That's the way I do it. All night with pecan or oak wood and charcoal mixed in. It comes out good. Wife puts it in the oven to make sure it's done.

The Mrs made a big batch of beef stew. I’ll be eating it for days. It seems to get better the next day.

Made a cadman inspired sweet and sour smoked sausage.( nettles, onions, peppers ,pineapple and sweet chili sauce.. added a bit more hot pepper and a dash of soy). Running late, so mixed in some egg noodles instead of rice. I think I hit all the notes anyway cad, it was really good 👍.

I need to try egg noodles next time. I did corn once and squash once instead of rice. Noodles sounds like it could be good.

I boiled the noodles for about 5 minutes, I can’t stand overcooked pasta. They soak up alot of liquid, I added the juice from a can of crushed pineapple.

I am firing up the grill and making hamburgers. Got to buy some buns this morning. I bought everything else yesterday while grocery shopping and forgot the buns.

Love a good burger. Over the years, I’ve reverted to using whatever loaf bread we have on hand for the burgers and hotdogs. Sometimes the buns are just too much bread. Also seems like we were always tossing buns that never got eaten.

Last night - fresh peas and cornbread along with corn on the cob. We’ve had really good luck with Publix corn this summer. Only buy it when it’s just put on display and fresh. The tassels tell the story. If it’s dark brown, it gets a pass.
