Damn, I was just thinking about him the other day. There was a restaurant I worked at where the owner was friends with Dicky. Dicky would swing in some times and play his guitar on stage. Was really pretty cool. This was back in the early 90's.

I saw the Allmans for the first time in 1970 at the Fillmore East, late show. No one had ever heard of them.They were the opening act, with Love (with Arthur Lee) next and the Dead headlining. Blew me away. For the final encore, all three bands got together and jammed on "Turn on Your Love Light" for over a half hour.
Five guitars, five drummers. Amazing! It was daylight when it ended.
"In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" is one of the greatest rock instrumentals of all time.
