Atlas Shrugged...
San Francisco Seeks To Allow Lawsuits Against Grocery Stores Fleeing The City As Mass Corporate Exodus Continues
Dean Preston, another member of the Board of Supervisors, recently introduced a proposal called the Grocery Protection Act, which would require a closing store to provide the city six months’ notice and try to find a replacement supermarket for the location it’s vacating.
Elaborating on his proposal, Preston said, "Our communities need notice, an opportunity to be heard and a transition plan when major neighborhood grocery stores plan to shut their doors."
According to the proposal, anyone impacted by a non complying grocery store could initiate legal proceedings.

If the "leadership" makes an area unprofitable for stores, then stores leave. Very simple to understand.
To put the responsibility of replacing itself on the store that was run out of the area by politics and unfavorable laws sounds about right. If they decide to pass and try and enforce that, will cause the grocers to flee the area or just jack up the prices and change how they operate.
If i had a grocery store and saw this on the horizon, would have a sale and get out of the cess pool San Fran.

These municipalities are destroying their future. What business would ever locate in an area like San Francisco, New York or Chicago?
Then to add insult to injury they attempt to hold failing businesses hostage?
As the puppet says, “Come on man”

You are trying to indict the entire city on the statement of one man. Is that the best you can do?

Then to add insult to injury they attempt to hold failing businesses hostage? As the puppet says, “Come on man” # 1 I doubt it goes anywhere. Just somebody looking to squeeze more votes. # 2 If by some crazy deal, it got passed, it wouldn't stand scrutiny in the courtroom. # 3 If enough businesses close, then the trend will reverse itself due to demand. # 4 "C'mon man!"

“CRICKETS” ?
The area they are writing about is NOT Chicago. It is a very nice corridor (or nice corridors)of development west and northwest of the City of Chicago by 20-50 miles approximately.
Chicago is DEAD. The once famous “Magnificent Mile” has boarded up stores. All of the abandonment of Chicago is due to the Liberal Democrats running the city and the insane crime rates.
I am far from a wallflower but I don’t go into Chicago any more than I have to. I would never go there for a concert or sporting event.
They like to use the terminology “Chicagoland” to try to enhance the reputation of that cesspool. It only fools people who are not familiar with the area.

Only Wacko’s belief that what California was is what it will continue to be.
Everyone with a brain cell is leaving California as quickly as they can. No one can afford to live there. They have taxed their state out of business.
25 years ago I witnessed people leaving the state because of economic problems. I had San Francisco refugees playing on our pool team. They related in detail the problems of California.
Now it make national news as famous people move themselves and their businesses out of California. The slow slide has more than started. It will be interesting to see how they pay the bills after more and more money leaves the state.
