Day 7. Morning. Defuel has been completed. All 157 fuel bundles have been moved to the spent fuel pool. Work will now begin on associated systems. The cavity will be drained back to the reactor head flange and Work and checks on the Reactor Cooling System (RCS) will begin. Time to boil on the Spent fuel pool is 8.5 hours. That means if Spent Fuel Pool cooling is lost and not restored the water will begin to boil off in 8 hours. That would be a bad day for everybody involved.

Meh. I just build the breakers. Fuel handling guys get to have all the fun.
Breaker shop guys very rarely see containment and I'm perfectly fine with that 😁
When they do a critical lift (reactor head, core barrel, other critical stuff) an electrician has to ride the polar crane in case something breaks. I got a pretty good dose on a core barrel lift once when I was in Gen pop. I got a dose rate alarm and when I looked at my dosimeter all I saw was the zeros and no decimal. I supermaned over the motors on top of the crane and landed next to the crane tech that was up there with me. I thought I was cooked. But there was a decimal and I was ok. Rad protection wasn't happy with me but there wasn't much I could have done to prevent it. When moving the core barrel it has to stay under under water by so many feet. A couple of inches to high can mean you get a big dose. They usually line the cab with lead to protect the operator. The guys up top not so much🙄
