$6.00 gas would accomplish a few things. Off the top it would wreck economies, force automakers to produce more efficient power trains, and shorten my fishing trips. We seem to be heading to a more socialized form of government. Some would say communist. I certainly don't advocate for either, but I'm not in charge. Nor would I want to be. Already some of the Repugnants are leaving government because they couldn't get anything done.

Are EVs dead yet?
What's taking so long?

This Solar-Powered EV Is Promised for under $43,000 A lot less expensive than the Lightyear 0, this mass-market EV will be manufactured in the ‘hundreds of thousands,’ the company pledges. Thanks to solar panels, the Lightyear 2 will need to plug in for charging about a third less often than a conventional battery-electric vehicle and will have half the emissions. Given the right circumstances, the onboard energy collectors can double the range in the battery, providing more than 500 miles between charges from the grid. www.autoweek.com/news/green-cars/a42419262/lightyear-solar-powered-ev-promised-for-euro-40000/Bullshit story....

This is an industry in it's infancy. There will be giant leaps forward in both manufacturing and battery innovations. At present it's a great alternative to burning fossil fuel. Whether you want to believe it or not, the worlds chemistry is sliding down the road to perdition. Just look at the real changes in our atmosphere and our natural resources that are water related. The next big wars will be fought over water. Just filled up my Ram 2500 hd for $105.00 and burned a quarter tank trailering my boat from Key Largo to Miami. Not to mention the pollutants I released into the atmosphere. China is coming hard with EV's. They're in it for the long game. Better step up to the plate and compete or all the missiles and weapons won't mean shit if we can't breath. And I am definitely not a tree hugger. I like to kill shit. Problem is deterioration of our environment is very apparent where I fish (South Florida). I don't post fishing stories from back in the day as nobody here would understand them. Hence mother nature is telling us something's wrong. Can't wait for all the negative comments. You filled up your Ram because you can't tow your boat with a EV. At what point in time do you think you can buy a EV that can tow your boat at a reasonable cost. I'm not saying they aren't the future, although I have doubts, but they aren't the present and they should not be forced on us by the Government.

Holy shit... I missed that gem of bs. That will work right after they invent perpetual motion. Problem is the majority of cheerleaders are oblivious to what it actually costs and the amount of work it takes to start a production car company. Especially when the car isn't appealing to the masses Rivian is going to fail also.

My Tesla doesn't have the tow capacity for my big boat. I have the Dodge which is rusted to shit from putting it in the water at Haulover at high tide. I'm currently considering trading up to a Hybrid truck for the additional towing capacity. Anybody interested in a '06 2500HD Crew Cab with 80m miles. Mechanically great, but body work is another story.

I totally understand that you want to protect your Rivian from harsher elements by making sure that the Rivian is able to withstand them. The maximum water fording height of the R1T and the R1S is 42.7 inches, so the Rivian should be more than capable of launching a boat in salt water. Furthermore, living in Illinois and having to deal with loads of salt from the roads in the winter, I'm very conscientious of the effects that salt can have on any vehicle. To maintain the paint and coating on your vehicle, we detailed how you can go about washing the exterior to avoid any excessive dirt or salt buildup, which can be found in the R1T Owner's Guide located here<https://rivian.com/support/article/r1t-owners-guide> on page 162.I do hope that helps shed some light on your concerns. Charged with coal and oil... and produced 1000 times the particulate polution than a regular ice car. yeah right, liar. Truth denier. I know it hurts but someone has to tell you. China has never used less coal in its history than it does today and consumption continues to climb. And already posted this... but when it disrupts your myth, you ignore it. Honestly I dont expect you to actually think for yourself but maybe....
For the same task, an EV weighs far more than its equivalent ICE vehicle... which translates directly into increased tire wear which is the biggest contributor to particular pollution from vehicles. EVs produce 1850 TIMES the particular matter that an ICE produces. So much for the Zero Emission lie.

I’m still waiting to hear from the owners of EV’s on this site?🤔 Seems the biggest supporters and defenders of EV’s don’t even own one?🤔 I've posted on this site several times prior. Love our Model Y LR AWD and in two years of driving both local and over the road have had no problems keeping a charge in it. I wouldn't put either of my cars in the water, especially salt water. I have my Dodge Ram 2500HD for trailering my boats. Yesterday my truck's tailpipe actually fell off from rust. Replacing the exhaust system with SS up to the turbo. Frame is good, body not so much. Salt water and vehicles don't mix. I don't care what make or model they are. FYI, the service at Tesla is the most convenient and on time that I've ever had. And reasonable as a tire replacement was same price as the local tire stores. And quicker.

At least you’re honest. 👍 I have no idea where the closest Tesla dealer is around here, I think up in Birmingham Al. I did see a Rivian pickup truck but it had North Carolina tags.

Kinda like Senator Kennedy asking the energy office, “If EVs are so great why do we have to pay folks to drive them?” He was speaking on incentives. Simple question, but a good question.
