I dated a redhead for several years. She was kinkier than 40 miles of barbed wire.

Exactly! If you don't have tinitis, you and I can turn stuff off and sit in true quiet. I grew up deaf have worn hearing aids since started pre-school, about 5-6 yrs old. Never heard the birds (even with wearing hearing aids) til in my 30s and got a pair of digital hearing aids. Asked my wife what all the noise was and she said birds! Have no idea how folks can handle that stuff. Also interesting how people can hear in 3-D. I can't - hear whatever the prominent sound/voice is and that's it. Music must be beautiful in it's entirety with the various layers. 😂. That’s almost exactly my experience. I asked my wife what was this noise and what was that noise. She laughed. One of the most irritating sounds to me is the exhaust fan on the microwave. The Mrs thinks it’s hilarious but I don’t know how people can handle some of the “new” sounds I’m hearing. Most days I wish there was a device I could wear to tune my wife’s voice off

Dated several redheads when I was younger. Now that you mention it they were “different” I went through a long string of italian girls. Then it was redheads. I didn’t target any of them it was just what I found attractive at the moment. I married a redhead.

I have pretty good hearing for a man my age. I was tested about 10 years ago and the lady doing the test ran it twice because she said she could not believe I heard the high-pitched sounds that I did. I think I may be getting tinnitus because late at night I will hear sounds like an electric motor humming. I thought it was my fridge at first. Sometime sounds like crickets chirping way off. I need to talk to my doctor about it if it gets worse, but it is only when lying in bed and it is really quiet. Doesn't bother me going to sleep, so I ignore it right now.

From Mayo.......
Although severe tinnitus can interfere with your hearing, the condition does not cause hearing loss.
Tinnitus is a symptom associated with many ear disorders. A common cause of tinnitus is inner ear damage. Tiny, delicate hairs in your inner ear move with the pressure of sound waves. That movement triggers the cells in your ear to release an electrical signal. The signal travels from your ear, through the auditory nerve and into your brain. Your brain interprets the signal as sound.
If the hair cells inside your inner ear are broken, bent or otherwise damaged, they may spark random electrical impulses to your brain, causing tinnitus. Some of the ear conditions that can lead to tinnitus include exposure to loud sound, age-related hearing loss, earwax buildup and changes within your ear bones.
It is not only ear problems that can lead to tinnitus, however. Other conditions that can cause it include cardiovascular disease, allergies, anemia and some jaw disorders. Other factors such as diet, stress and certain medications can play a role in the development of tinnitus, too.

Wish there really was a cure for tinnitus. Came on suddenly and is there all the time. Doc said there's nothing that can be done, so I just try to ignore it. Fishing helps.
