5 or 6 weeks ago I noticed some shortness of breath, weight gain. Was at 212 and increased to 215 in a couple days. Kept an eye on it and over the ensuing couple weeks I went up to 225. Breathing was affected by just a walk to the mailbox. BP went up to 145/90 and blood ox down to 92. Went to see cardiologist and he changed meds around. BP holding at 115/75 blood ox holding at 95 and I weighed 207 this morning. Been pissing every hour or so, at night especially. Cardi wants me at 190.

Hang in there and keep us posted, Ferris. Don't like the sounds of that. I'm surprised you're still on cardiac meds - I ended those over a year ago...just taking baby aspirin now.

Get better buddy. They may have put you on a BP/water pill combination. Rapid weight gain is usually water. It’s dangerous as congestive heart failure can happen quickly.
On a good note your weight is not bad at all.
At 350 I can only dream of 225. 👍
Take care. I need you around to argue with. 😊

They've kept me on them as I have another aneurysm abdominally. It's about a 4 centimeter (5.5 is where they get antsy) . They feel like the lower BP meds reduces strain on the aneurysm thus preventing or minimizing it's growth. If I lose some more weight, they think I can avoid any repair to that one.

Hope you can get this figured out.
Big jump in weight. Probably water as others have said. Might also be easier to lose?

Up until now, most of the weight loss is water. No idea why it occurred.

Water buildup is caused by the heart not doing its job correctly. I was told to move my legs more. Bicycle riding, stair stepper, walking etc will usually do the job. Good luck and take care of yourself.

Wow. Kudos to you for staying on top of it and realizing something was happening. Stay well. Ever since the aneurysm surgery, I'm pretty consistent about checking my BP and Blood OX a couple times a day. Just keep the BP wrist monitor on my desk and the pulsemeter. Also use the Patient Portal with my cardiologist keeping them up to date. His nurse is great at keeping me advised and commenting. The short breath kinda snuck up on me. I noticed it but didn't think much. Just that I had overexerted myself. It progressed further and caught my attention. Weight gain I noticed pretty quickly.

The water weight is no joke. I ignored it and ended up in the cardiac critical care unit for a month with a collapsed lung due to fluid retention. That was not a lot of fun.

I have the neuropathy also and a sciatic nerve that is shooting pain down my right leg as I type. If you don’t ride a bicycle try one. It’s the best thing that I tried. The Mrs and I also have a set of 3 wheelers. The neuropathy doesn’t interfere with riding the three wheeler. It’s kind of fun to ride around the area with her at night. Peaceful and quiet at night. Anyway take care of yourself.

don't cross your legs or feet when sitting.
keep your feet flat on the floor
I've been doing that and the tingling in my toes has stopped.
Hope that helps.
I'm going to get a stationary recumbent bike for cardio.
I'm walking every day but it will soon be hotter than I like.

My BP on the two BP meds is around 140/90.
When I go off the meds, my BP goes to 180/120.
I have never heard of water weight caused by heart issues.
My cardio tells me to exercise at least 5X per week. I try to do at least an hour a day of exercise.
My issue is atherosclerosis. I do not have a lot of problems losing weight, my problem is changing my diet. I love wings and fries too much to give up.
Hope they figure it all out for you Ferris.

Congestive heart failure can cause water weight, as can AFib. Mom had the former, wife has the latter. Meds easily corrected both - lasix for Mom, adjustment of BP meds for wife. Stay on top of it, Robert, as you have been. Good luck and best wishes!

Stay on top of it, Robert, as you have been. Good luck and best wishes! Same with me. BOTH Docs said in 2017 i had perhaps 5 years left. I take my meds religiously every single day and I'm still on the right side of the grass. Way Back when i took drugs for fun, now i take them to stay alive

Wow, sorry to hear about all that, Ferris. It sounds like they have you on the right track. I started gaining a bunch of weight and my ankles were really swollen. it came up in just a few weeks. I was worried about congestive heart failure also since my dad had that going on. I talked to the super cute new female cardiologist and she said my heart is fine. She was asking about BP meds. I told one that I'm taking and she says it tends to make you salt sensitive. I don't salt anything, and watch what i consume for salt. She asked if we have a water softener. I do as I'm on a well. I drink about a gallon a day of well water. She said stop and switch to bottled. We got a 5 gallon system and I lost 10 pounds in the first month. 12.5 over all so far. Not sure if that could be an issue for you, but it sure woke me up!
