No....he did not slice my finger wide open. But his size did catch my attention. Noted to Yul before we let it go that it was as big a one as I could remember ever boating. Should have measured it and looked it up.........probably not a full 7 pounds.......which would have been a new state record.....but that net is 21 inches at its widest. myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/profiles/freshwater/chain-pickerel/

That looks like what we call "Jacks". We catch them in the fall in the creeks with light spinner bait. That's some good eating too.

That is definitely the biggest pickerel I've ever seen.
Where from?

That is definitely the biggest pickerel I've ever seen. Where from? Did something we've not done in years......drowned shiners in Rodman.......... At this point in life we almost always go saltwater so that what comes over the side is truly good to eat. But a friend wanted to try and catch a big bass......which of course are not fit to eat.......IMHO......

That’s a big Chain Pickeral. We also grew up calling them jacks. There’s also a Redfin Pickeral which does not get nearly as big.

He’s a dandy.
I caught a 26 incher many years ago. Used to throw rubber eorms in lilly pads and let them wake up on the baits.

Haven’t caught one in years. Never seen one that big, in Okeechobee they were usually 12-15”
