I've caught some mid sized lemons in the Keys off my kayak. I usually like to try for bigger from shore. I'm staying at Bahia Honda in March. There's a beach there, but lots of rocks. Anybody got any ideas for some hammerheads from shore? I'm considering kayaking out a bait from the BH Lagoon toward deeper water in the BH Channel. Another possible is by the Flager RR bridge, but I want to avoid boat traffic. What about Sombrero Beach? Deeper water is 800 yards out though. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

I assume you are referring to the Long Key Bridge as the Flagler RR Bridge. But that designation could be applied to any of the 112 year old bridges in the keys that are still standing, since they originally were all railroad bridges before they were converted for traffic and later for fishing.
I have been fishing and diving in South Fla for over fifty years and have seen countless sharks however T-heads are not very common. Their favorite prey are tarpon and rays. They are often seen off public beaches in shallow water chasing rays.

I was referring to the nearby RR bridge in the Bahia Honda Channel, but Long Key works too. Hammerheads are pretty common in the BH Channel during tarpon season, but I'll be there a bit early for that. Thx for the tip re: shallow water; I may give Sombrero Beach a try after hours. THX for your response.
