Here's my thoughts. If you can find a good used summit get it. If you get them something heavy that doesn't sit well they will not use it and you will end up buying another. Get a summit and be done with it. They are comfortable and safe. I have 5 of them that's how much I like them. Just my opinion

i started my kids on a blanket on the ground under the tree i was up in, gameboys , snacks, coloring books. then they moved to ladder stands using just 1 piece of the ladder so 6 ft off the ground then to 2 pieces of the ladder bout 10 ft off the ground. going straight to climbers for young first time hunters is risky i would start off with ladder stands, gotten them as cheap as 29.00

There's some ladder stands posted in the Gear Deal section for 40 bucks and some steel Summit climbers for a 100 bucks.

Rural King has a bunch on sale. $40 for a single ladder. $30 for a hang on. Climbers as low as $100.

Isn't most of that stuff out of stock already? I’ve noticed a lot of their items being on sale out of stock also. I check some of they’re hunting equipment once a month or so while crossing my fingers 🤣

To the OP, if you go with the steel stands, inspect them regularly for rust. If you find rust starting I would treat it with ospho ,might slow it down a little.

I humped cheap steel climbers when I was young. May as well take advantage while you can.
