Saw some last week. All toms and jakes in the bunch. Two were white headed.
Sorting out the pecking order for this year’s breeding season.

Heck yea! Time to go to all the quota hunt WMAs that you DIDN'T get drawn for and practice your turkey calling.

Heck yea! Time to go to all the quota hunt WMAs that you DIDN'T get drawn for and practice your turkey calling. i like to practice my run and gun style then see how many i can call into 10 feet before jumping out screaming got you father mucker,, dinner island and allapatta flats are 2 great areas to hone your skills before the season starts.

Be sure to crank up the volume on them calls, call loud and frequently, just like they do on YouTube. Trust Me, it helps.

East or west of 19 Dr?
I'll be riding around on my Ebike with my Bluetooth speaker playing recorded sounds from Texas mountain lions. Going to normalize them to the cats before season starts!

Always enjoy watching them. They are more interested in their strutting for each other at this time. Hens are more interested in feeding. Once they determine who’s boss the gobblers should separate. However, I’ve seen subordinates trail behind the dominant birds all season. This is my anecdotal thought, and not science that I know of. Many times the birds are related and will get along for the most part. The breeding will kick in shortly and most of the hens hopefully will be bred before the season opens and the gobs get taken. I need to pattern a new Browning o/u 20 to see what it likes, for this season. Have my mixture of loads ready to go. The clock is ticking…

Swampdog, I agree. In the next few weeks, you can actually start to tell the birds apart by the broken fan feathers. Once the scrapping begins.

It's going to be over before season starts. Everyone should just turn their quota permits back in to get pref points back. It won't be worth applying for reissues either....

crazy birds, sometimes it seems so easy to kill one then other times it seems impossible. few weeks back took the grandkids salamander hunting up in the smokies, while turning over rocks in the creek 25 birds walk by us at 30yds, mix off gobblers ,jakes, hens. if i could only hunt 1 animal it would be turkeys.

Watched 11 birds last night (9 hens 2 toms) at sundown just west of the Suwannee in Dixie feed around and fly up. One of the toms had a nice beard that looked a foot long at 100yards. Has to be a big beard.

I saw a flock of at least 12 gobblers last Friday. They were on hwy 26 on the Alachua county work farm land. I bet it's going to be interesting when them boys start figuring out the pecking order.
