Basic forestry management that unfortunately some states with a particular form of state government refuse to do and in turn are promoting regular wildfires not only endangering the forests and wildlife but citizens and their property as well.

Florida is light years ahead with fire management.
However I'm afraid a new study on chromium 6 carcinogen released by fire doesn't mess things up.
Hopefully people realize its worse with wildfire versus prescribed fire.
Thanks for posting these articles Ben.

Big Cypress has the most aggressive Burn program in the Country. I asked the Fire Boss one day...Larry what are you trying to do here.. He says mimic Mother Nature..I said..then just go home and let mother nature do her thing. See , All them high dollar Smoke Jumpers out West are out of work during the winter...so they bring them down here to play.. and keep them busy. I knew a bunch of them...good folks

Hopefully people realize its worse with wildfire versus prescribed fire. Thanks for posting these articles Ben. I'm worried too that those who don't realize we EVOLVED on a planet that has wood smoke as part of it's natural environment.....at least in a lot of places, the SE US being one of those places......that they will foist a baseline of zero on us rather than a baseline for what is NATURAL for the planet. We've to watch them on the 2.5MPs also. They'll ignore.....or not care......or be so serious about "being safe" that that the science will not register with them. And for 2.5MPs we've even got to consider time of year......what would be NATURAL for May in NE FL and what would be NATURAL for December in the same place are wholly unrelated. Can't have one size fits all. And what frustrates me the most is that those who claim to be environmentalists will be clamoring for this sort of thing when they should be on the side of science and evolution. Just not easy. Check the next issue of the North Florida Prescribed Burn Association Newsletter......we'll have it out in a week or so......as the conversation for even more enlightened prescribed fire rules and statutes in Florida is being started.

Interesting. Everything you say makes really good sense and the science should back it up. Keep us posted.
