Just to revisit this… It was 99% preloaded hevi shot. A thorough cleaning and more shooting has me settled on kent fasteel without any issues. The hevi shot cases were noticeably deformed after being loaded more than once into the gun. I shot many different rounds so I know others did the same. A thinner gauge plastic case? I would guess.

Anyone who says they have not cleaned their gun in twenty years is either lying or they have never used it. I own and have owned several Benellis over the past twenty five years. They are great guns, but if used in in cold or wet weather for any amount of time, they must be cleaned.

My old shotgun hasn't been cleaned in the 40+ yrs that I've owned it and knowing the previous owner probably never other than a wipe down 2 or 3 times a year. It goes bang every time you pull the trigger. It's a Model 12 Heavy Duck, ain't pretty anymore but works every time. Title of this thread should be "Eff Semi Autos".

I aint done more that that w my 870 since the early 1990’s. No need to clean hunting shotguns unless you use shit anmo that leaves powder in the action.
