That’s the steel one. It will rust out quick and its heavy. I’ve owned both. The aluminum model is lighter and weather proof. Its worth the extra money.

I need to easily disconnect the seat from my new Summit Viper and find a way to stow off stand and easily install when in tree. Used it last week and with seat in place and passed thru foot stand when carrying (as per instruction) and it's a PITA to breakdown & to repack to carry out. Any suggestions?

Rayi you might need to watch a few “how to” videos as there are some tricks that might make it a little easier. Also when sliding the two together they usually mesh pretty well when the angle is right. Practice does help (ask me how I know). Good luck!

Not sure the newer Viper seat is the same as my old one but the 2 metal buckles on each of the 4 straps, that can be adjusted for height, are interlocked and can be easily removed once you figure it out.
Not sure how the instructions say to secure the seat for packing but on mine I slide the top and bottom of stand together, leave the bottom seat portion where it is, and then pass the seat back rest through the bottom of the stand in the gap near where it goes against the tree. Fold the back rest towards the front and then put the bungee straps around each side support and lock together in the middle using the hooks. As an added benefit it creates a pocket where I can put my coat and pack when carrying. Not sure if this makes sense or if your seat is like mine, but it can be done in a matter of seconds even in the dark.

Have used summits for years. Being a big guy 6'3 240 I got a goliath. I prefer the standard. No way I could physically fall out of that standard size. The goliath I could slip through and fall. I found the extra size unnecessary. Unless huge go for the standard size.
