hey mr bandit i seen my first 2 coachwhips in years , mile apart, one over 5 ft one over 6 ft beautiful snakes, really light bodies then black as coal last 10 inches or so including the head. forgot how fast they are i tried to run one down for a couple of pics but he left me in the dust. |

I see coachwhips regularly in central and North Florida... I have not seen one in 20 years South of SR 70....
And yes they are crazy fast.... I could usually catch them when I was a skinny teenager.... Now I do not even try...

LMAO None... I would have unloaded on him... But he slipped off the bank of the Canal on Farm Field Road in Dinner....
I think they are showing up more in Hendry County..... I got that one last summer in Spirit..... A few months ago I saw one dead, hit by a car on 833 South of Dinner...
They are adding substrate/working on the roads on the Addition lands in the Slough.... A month or so ago I saw a snake track that was way to big to be an EDB on a freshly worked road.... I poked around in the area the track went off the road.... But did not find anything.... Then I saw one last week in Dinner, the first I have seen out there.

people find them dead on 29 all the way to labelle so gotta be a few in spirit, the slough,dinner island and surrounding areas coachwhips little south of there pm me if your interested since both where hanging in same type of habitat i have a feeling there may be a few of them. now those would be some great photos. i will give away deer and hog spots but snakes and lizards like to keep kinda secret. |

Saw a pine snake the other day. Pretty cool snake! I’ve seen plenty of coachwhips and indigos but, that was the first pine snake for me.

why report to fwc , if you dont mind me asking there where thousands of indigos up and down lox road where there are houses now, what did fwc do. dozens by commercial blvd and the sawgrass expressway, that too is developed. all the orange groves up by c23/24 had indigos tons of them around venus and arcadia but that to is being over developed . nothing fwc can do to help snakes, maybe arrest some 16 year old for having one as a pet but do nothing as thousands of acres are bulldozed. |
