Boys were invited to a family and friend shoot this weekend. Came complete with the D Head distant uncle, that had to be asked to leave LOL. Just like the good ol days. They did pretty well, I was certainly a bit jealous.  |

I'm trying to do the math as to how much it'd cost me for enough shells to participate and produce a reasonable share of the take.
It's a sad number......really sad.
And this........reminded me of my long passed dear old mother, a woman who'd of rendered a pot of dove breasts and rice out of that that'd have you lickin' your fingers.
Times change...........good that some pass it along.............

My hunting Pard just did a South Dakota Pheasant hunt.
They shot about 200 Birds in 3 days. I told him them are Pen Raised Birds...He swears they were wild .
Got pictures of a bird squatting down in corn stubble at 30 feet...Bro , wild birds don't do that.
What kind of Habitat would support 200 birds a week and 2 months of solid hunting.
Thats, 1 thousand 6 hundred birds in 2 months...Wild birds...yea sure.
He thinks he's a freakin Hero Pheasent warrior now..Pen Raised Champ

I can remember my father telling me of pheasant hunts of his youth growing up in east South Dakota. Says he could remember a time when birds would sit. Then as he got to late teens he would drive up to a field and see birds running out the other end of the field. He was born in 1936. My how times change.

Some people work hard for 80 hours a week so they can pay $2000 for 3 hours of fun. Some people work hard for 40 hours a week so they can pay $500 for 8 hours of fun. Some people work hard at having fun and pay $0 for 40 hours of fun......but that $2000 for 3 hours of fun is HIGHLY productive....
