I was out Sunday with my primary target being birds, not fish. It's fall migration and seabirds are on the move just like land birds. But, I brought along a couple rods to try for Dinner. Checked out the area near the Miami sewer since there's always tons of boats there and of course, birds. No unexpected birds but I trolled a lure and got a small king. Dinner got. Saw two other kings caught among the other 50 boats there, both small also. Headed a little deeper and dropped on a number I have for yelloweye. Nobody home. Headed out to 1100' but it was a desert out there. Not one bird in sight. Came back and trolled two lures in 300' hoping for a blackfin but got a double header skipjack instead which I released. Again, no birds around either. Slowest day for offshore birds I've had and pretty close when it comes to fish too, although I put only minimal effort into fishing. Heard of one sail on the radio and nothing else.

Fresh Skippies are just as good as Blackfin IMO but to each his own. At least you got some dinner.
