In search of SSS! You might think I got confused and “In search of SSS!” was for the dating app PlentyofFish.com but it wasn’t. Tom and I left at 8:30 in search of Silver, Slot, Snook, so we headed towards the inlet with 4 dozen beautiful finger mullet that Tom caught with the cast net. The Snook are beautiful and silvery near the inlet verses the dark green Snook in the River. The mullet run is in full throttle which everyone looks forward to although for me, I think it is overrated and makes it more difficult to catch Snook. We started where we caught Snook last week, but nobody was home. We went to the jetty where Tom caught a beautiful 18.5 Mutton Snapper. We hooked a few more, although the glue didn’t stick. We continued around the inlet without success, so we ran all the way back up the River where Tom hooked and landed a 21 lb. Goliath Grouper. Shortly thereafter, Tom landed a big Jack that dragged us around docks. These three fish were Tom’s biggest of those species to date, biggest Snapper, biggest Goliath, and biggest Jack. Sadly, I pulled the hook or broke off about a dozen fish today and was humbled. After 7.5 hours, I finally put a Snooklet in the boat, although I will admit, I was “out fished” by Tom today, another first. Great day my friend, Thank you for keeping the day interesting.
