Trolled the edge for a bit. Not even a bonito. Out in 600' there was a moderate weedline with four boats working it. Only a couple of terns flying over it but didn't seem to find anything to dive on. Trolled up and down a bit and nothing. Made it out to near the sword grounds without seeing any life. Headed back in but the weedline was gone and so were the boats. Quit early. No hits, no runs, no errors.

I quit dolphin fishing 20 years ago. Ain’t worth the effort and expense for a mediocre fish. If they swim up to the boat while I’m dropping then I will try and catch some but that’s about it for me. I will try and troll up some Blackfins or Skippys if I see some birds on them and occasionally high speed for Wahoo when running to drop spots but that’s about it for me.

I must have seen you out there. Took the skiff offshore and found the same weedline in 550 feet. Nice rip on it and few birds working it like you said. I trolled that line for atleast a hour and nothing. Went out to 700 feet before coming back to that weedline and like you said, it was gone. That storm broke it up. Ending up snorkling on the reef a bit. Nice day though as it was flat.

Out boat broke loose while diving off Elliot in 80’ of water when I was 15. Crappy day with no other boats out there. If not for an old man in a sailboat with eagle eyes, I don’t know what would have happened to me and my dad.
This was in 1987. I haven’t been back since. That was a regular spot for us back in the day.
