I know it's crazy. Probably didn't help them any that nowadays you get "free" tupperware every time you buy lunch meat.

Poor management for a number of years and a failure to keep with the customer base.

People don't cook as much and cheap Chinese knockoffs flooded the market.

To this day, most of Tupperware's sales are done by tens of thousands of individual dealers hawking bowls, baking pans, carafes and vintage tumblers in each other's living rooms, on Facebook or on other social networks. The strengths of this model recently have "begun to turn into weaknesses," Tupperware said in its bankruptcy filing, in part because it came at the cost of developing an online strategy. The company says it's planning "no current changes" to agreements it has struck with independent sales consultants. www.npr.org/2024/09/18/nx-s1-5115873/tupperware-bankruptcy#:~:text=Tupperware%2C%20the%20brand%20synonymous%20with,its%20business%20model%20and%20debt.

Now ask some mothers and wives about "tupperware" and you may get a diffrent response than the hefty, glad, and other substitute products, or using the recycled butter containers.
I know that for many years the bride would not loan out Tupperware as it would never return.
She started using the cheapest containers for that and does not worry about it.
Now she DOES have Tupperware and other branded containers in her private stash she uses..they don't leave.

Well, let me offer a tip to some of the younger generation here to help you get through life a bit easier. Collect Tupperware where you can find it. Look for the original stuff that had an image of a seal and the wording " Tupper Seal " on it . May also want to keep an eye out for some of the rarer pieces.

Grew up fishing the ponds in front of the Tupperware HQ as a kid. Security would kick us out knowing we would be back the next day.

Sad to see them go in today's disposable economy.
We inherited some mid-70s Tupperware from the GF's mom after she passed. We keep them in the RV. They still work perfectly and are practically indestructible.

The cheap Ziploc stuff works just as well and is a lot cheaper. All you doing is storing food for a day or two.

If management had been doing their job, they would have made the move to disposable containers a long time ago and also offered the tupperware line in retail outlets.

Some people are willing to piss good money away for certain things. Plastic storage is not one of them.... There's your tidbit for today.

Heard they are not going out of business. They are changing their sales style, no more Tupperware parties with MILF’s chugging cheap merlot. Bigger emphasis on online sales.

Grew up fishing the ponds in front of the Tupperware HQ as a kid. Security would kick us out knowing we would be back the next day. You just brought back memories of being chased out of a certain park every morning just to return the next morning to get our limit of snook. No cops, no harassment, just GTFO. And we would - till the next day. Different times.

If management had been doing their job, they would have made the move to disposable containers a long time ago and also offered the tupperware line in retail outlets. They did offer Tupperware in Target stores. It wasn't only the product itself that kept Tupperware parties going. It was the idea of getting people together too . People may have been going to the parties as much interested in seeing other people as they were into the Tupperware. They need a different product that would have the same effect.
