"The DeSantis administration is escalating its war on Amendment 4, using state agencies to combat the abortion rights referendum on November's ballot." "Gov. Ron DeSantis' use of state resources to oppose a ballot initiative in Florida is unusual, and critics argue it violates a statute that prohibits the state from "influencing" a person's vote." "Florida's State Department began a review last week of petition signatures in support of the abortion amendment from at least four counties, including Hillsborough." "The probe comes long after the deadline to challenge the validity of the signatures, per the Tampa Bay Times. Secretary of State Cord Byrd certified the signatures seven months ago." "Also last week, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration published a web page that lobbed a flurry of criticism at the abortion amendment." "The website also evokes debunked criticism of the amendment, such as assertions that it would eliminate parental consent or lead to unqualified providers determining exceptions to the viability standard." "DeSantis launched a political action committee called the Florida Freedom Fund in May to ensure the defeat of this year's historic referenda on abortion access and recreational marijuana." "Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Attorney General Ashley Moody and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, all DeSantis cabinet members, have pledged $600,000 toward defeating the amendment." "Floridians Protecting Freedom gathered enough signatures in January to tee up a vote that could upend the abortion landscape in Florida — while DeSantis was traveling the country for his failed presidential campaign." "Since returning home, he has struggled to reclaim his once-unquestioned power over the state." "Candidates he endorsed for school board races across the state failed, and his administration's plan for state parks drew rare bipartisan blowback." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/desantis-deploys-state-resources-against-abortion-ballot-initiative/ar-AA1qf8X0?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=u531&cvid=e90b097e556940c1a82bd51103ca1899&ei=28

Whatever the voters of a state decide should be the state’s laws.
If he is unfairly and illegally trying to change the election results HE needs to be prosecuted and punished

Do y'all have "Election Police" in Florida? "The Tampa Bay Times and other local news outlets have reported in recent days that police have been going to the homes of Florida residents who signed a petition to help get Amendment 4 on the ballot and questioning individuals about their signatures. Big picture, it looks as if Gov. Ron DeSantis has come up with a new, creatively frightening way to turn Florida into a police state." "Residents who were questioned have posted on social media or spoken to news outlets about the experience, saying the plain clothes police officers asked for verification that the resident signed the petition, claiming they’re investigating potential signature fraud. Some residents have claimed that the police went as far as asking for their identification or driver’s license to confirm signatures." "In the last two weeks, at least six county elections supervisors in Florida have received word from the Florida Department of State requesting copies of tens of thousands of the petitions that were signed in support of getting the measure on the ballot, the Miami Herald reported." “These are petitions that were already approved,” "The Tampa Bay Time has a good rundown of the details of all the encounters that have been reported thus far here." "It’s a bleak story that only gets worse from here: Local news outlets have started to report that the law enforcement officers who have been conducting the questioning of individual voters are members of the DeSantis administration’s election police force." "Speaking to reporters in Miami Lakes on Monday, DeSantis defended his election police questioning those who supported getting Amendment 4 on the ballot, claiming, without evidence, that there were issues with some of the signatures." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/desantis-finds-new-dystopian-activity-to-keep-his-election-police-busy/ar-AA1qhf5Q?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=7440977f620645b88fd3688cbd5a3f33&ei=133

Fortunately DeSatan will be gone soon enough, never to return. Just like his orange mentor, rather than serve the people, he intends to scare the people of the formerly great state of Floriduh.

DeSantis had a great career ahead of him. I think he could have been President. Then he seemed to go extreme MAGA with his views. He lost the legislature, which used to do whatever he wanted. I think his chances of becoming POTUS are diminished, but he could run for Senate and then try to make a move to POTUS in 2032. He is still young and has plenty of time. But his actions lately are going to haunt him in future elections.

Its what happens when someone thinks they are the messiah. In fairness, they literally claim to have Moses running the House as well.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is demanding that elected Florida Republicans join him in opposition to the proposed amendment that would enshrine abortion rights in the state Constitution. And he wants some of their campaign money to help fund the effort to defeat Amendment 4. DeSantis laid down the political law for Republicans on Saturday night in Broward County: His party’s elected officials must publicly oppose the proposed referendum on the November election ballot. Some haven’t, which DeSantis depicted as a sign of weakness. Speaking to hundreds of activists, donors and elected officials at a Republican Party of Florida fundraising dinner at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, he offered a litany of criticisms of the abortion-rights amendment and another proposed amendment that would legalize recreational marijuana for adults. The Republican governor also was sharply critical of Republicans who aren’t publicly opposing the amendment. He’s widely expected to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028 following his unsuccessful candidacy for president this year. If he can’t prevail in his home state on something he’s so clearly staked so much political capital on — defeating the amendments — that could tarnish his image as a master of politics and policy in Florida. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/desantis-demands-republicans-publicly-oppose-amendment-to-add-abortion-rights-to-florida-constitution/ar-AA1qldew?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=9d6d9905f62a442ba0b29b6186c83f45&ei=27

Are they sworn abortion election police or regular cops? County? City? FHP? Like off duty cops? Do they get OT pay or is it regular hours/shift? Can they fine/arrest you for refusing to comply? What are their names? They should make the (cop) names public

You find politicians telling you which books you can and can't read funny? Or have you never read anything, so it doesn't really matter? Curious why you like wannabee dictators like Rhonda?

Taxes were low in Florida before Desantis took office. Crime in Florida has been trending lower for decades now. Lastly, you meant to type "due", to which Desantis deserves practically none.
Perhaps you should thank Desantis that you have two new gay neighbors.

All about the money? Just a second ago you said it was also about crime -- so perhaps you should keep your story straight for more than an hour -- but as far as money (i.e. cost of living), it's been that way for more than 50 years now in case you had not noticed.
As for your new neighbors: Call them fags and see how good friends you will be. Or do you save your venom for forums like this where your anonymity protects you?
