Well bless your heart. Sounds like you owe them an apology and some reparations. Lots of black artists have made lots of positive music that has nothing to do with the criminal element or the “thug” lifestyle. That wasn’t what the rap industry choose to glorify. If you want to defend the multi-billion dollar rap industry, you go right ahead. Gary isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the droor Whatcha drankin retard?

You know I just thought that I don’t believe that there was a heinous crime committed of this ilk by a child that had been out hunting and fishing at a young age.
If my assumption is correct it reinforces that it is the mental state of people not the availability or access to firearms that causes the carnage.
Early firearms instruction and education would/could/should have a significant effect on lessening this type of violence ?

Or rock and roll encouraged wild sex parties and degenerate behavior. You are doing the same thing you accuse those who blame video games of doing, just looking for a scapegoat to blame. If it wasn't the guns, video games or the music, you guys would find something else to blame. That’s why I still listen to Merle Haggard, George Strait, Tammy, Loretta, George Jines, Gordon Lightfoot and the rest of the great musicians, singers. I couldn’t tell you or care who the top ten singers , musicians are today, it all sounds the same. Meanwhile, “The Cowboy Rides Away” is starting to come on now. Later. 👍

I get industry magazines and supposedly 450 million streaming users listened to it. Yet a small handful shoot up school

Or rock and roll encouraged wild sex parties and degenerate behavior. Negative rock did do that. The difference is that explicit rock didn’t come to dominate the rock industry to the same degree that thug rap came to dominate hip hop, and rock doesn’t aim itself at defining a racial demographic like rap does. Rap says “if you don’t affirm the gang lifestyle, you’re not really black.”

Seems like your predisposition would be a problem in your line of work. That’s a dishonest answer. I stated that it was my belief that negative music has ruined the black community, a statement I’ve made many times before. You responded that my statement was “bullshit” and you blamed “the government, justice system, and whites” instead of music. So of course you were referring to blacks. You’re lying by saying you were not. Otherwise you wouldn’t have mentioned “whites.”

I played Mario growing up. Never made me want to shoot fireballs at turtles or stomp on them. I've played COD and I'm a big HALO fan. Never thought this is just like killing someone. Of course I'm a semi logical and semi sane person.
There is probably a certain demographic of peope who shouldn't be allowed to play the games. Mater of fact like movies many of those games ha e a rating of M for mature. Unfortunately firearms aren't rated. And we will more than likely eventually face more scrutiny and restrictions on video games than we do firearms. I've been around firearms most of my life. My dad IMO foolishly sold his after an unfortunate incident. But all my uncles, grandfather and most cousins had them.
I have known people the government would.t trust with a drivers license and for good reason who have never had a problem legally attaining guns. As my local Sherriff who I like and deeply respect and ai talked a few years ago about Alabama going to a 5 year pistol permit. I told him I wasn't a fan because a person can change a whole lot in 5 years. The person I sold a permit to last year might not be anything like the man who still possesses it next year. He kinda agreed. Of course now you do t even have to have a permit in Alabama. I choose to maintain one because it makes it easier when traveling out of state with a firearm.
The rednexk POS I got into life threatening combat with several years ago should have never been allowed to possess a gun. Yet he did. Multiple domestic violence charges and assault should have prevented him from ever being given possession of a gun but it didn't. And usually every one of these stories involve some kind of story about the FBI or other agency having these kids or people on their radar. But if they ever did make a move on someone then the Gun Lobby, NRA et al would lose their shit and say the person was a victim and was having his rights taken away. So where do we go? The rights unwillingness to be part of the conversation will result in restrictions that none of us will like. Or at least shouldn't like. But don't worry hold the line. "Guns don't kill people" is a hell of a way to fight gun crime and mass shootings.

Concentrate on solving the problem without letting the gun be an issue in the discussion.

So this thread is 5 pages long..And I have read every post...
And this is what I have gleaned.... Leopard frog.... Has some really fucked up ideas...... I still cannot get over the tack that he claims he exposes his child to violence because his child watches him dispatching chickens on the farm... Harvesting chickens on a farm is not violence....
And the most hilarious thing.... Is that Bird Voiced Treefrog.... Still plays video games.... at 43....
And Whitebacon..... Whitebacon does not care... He often states he is peoples friends... And he has not posted sober in years..... He jumps on things that he thinks are funny... and backs idiots to keep the thread going for his entertainment...

And even if you do agree... you are harmless.... you made your money and checked out.... That is a character flaw of mine.... I cannot check out.... So now you live on an island off the coast of Belize.... And drink a liter of liquor a day (I believe that you said that)

Yet “wort-wort-wort” is still burned into my psyche.

I've never played the violent video games. I played Mario a few times. That's about it for me. Never even seen any of the violent ones played. There’s different levels of violence. Think about in movies the difference between The Dirty Dozen and Saving Private Ryan. Both are WWII movies with a lot of killing, but one is far more graphic (and maybe more realistic) than the other. Now take Saving Private Ryan and compare it to a bunch of horror movies. Again you have some horror movies that are only moderately violent or gory and others that are over the top and will make your stomach turn. Then again you have a spread between the realistic and the cartoonish. Both Saving Private Ryan and Natural Born Killers may be graphic, but one glorifies soldiers and the other glorifies murderous criminals. And then Monty Python and Saw might both contain scenes of people getting their limbs cut off. But Monty Python might be goofy while Saw might be gut wrenching. So it is with video games. There’s a spread between cartoonish and realistic, and another spread between glorifying common standards of good or evil, and another continuum between subdued and over-the-top. The video game industry is worth nearly $350 billion dollars a year. That totally blows all combined professional sports leagues out of the water in terms of revenue. The cat’s out of the bag. My generation and younger grew up with them and now raise our children and grandchildren with them. They’re as normal a part of our lives as the television, movies, and radio is to the earlier generations of the 1900s. There’s so many millions of games out there that there’s no way to categorize them all.

This morning I set up my daughter’s Switch to have access to Nintendo’s select SNES library. The original 1992 Mario Kart seems to be her favorite. Many great family memories of us playing it split-screen over at my cousin’s house. Pretty sure I never owned it for some reason in my original SNES collection. I do have it in my rebuilt collection. I probably have somewhere around 300 NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64 cartridges. I have not played Mario Kart 8. Again, couldn’t tell you why.

I got 5 Fortnite solo wins. I cheated. There’s another one I’ve never played. I don’t do a lot of on-line gaming anymore. CoD got stale. The last time I did any on-line shooters was through my VR system but that was still years ago. I did recently enjoy Farcry 5 in co-op with my brother. Recently I got into a pretty neat survival game called Green Hell. Most realistic woods simulator I’ve seen in terms of feeling like you’re walking the woods somewhere (in this case, the Amazon). When I upgrade my VR system I’m going to get into the VR version.

We have a VR that barely gets used. Me and the boy have been working through a Super Nintendo emulator. Don’t sleep on Donkey Kong country 2. Great side scroll game. Also been working through some OG Tomb Raider. Great first person shooter/puzzle.
