Oh sure,  mainstream leftist is not insinuating a certain party. Give me  fucking break with your bullshit. You still support a man who demeans and denigrates our veterans. 

I saw the same videos you saw. I had older friends and relative who went and came back and heard some stories. I was thankful it ended a few years before I turned 18. I remember the local paper listing the number who died every day in that war while it went on. 

You weren't even born when they got back.  But you've seen videos.  I remember exactly who abused our returning veterans.  They were called losers and drug addicts and no one would hire them. That was the abuse my friends who returned complained about not some 'hippies'.  I've asked a lot of vets who spit on them when they returned. They all replied similarly. "If someone spit on me and called me a killer I'd prove them right by killing them."

When 4:20 rolled around at my farm house it looked a vet parade.  They didn't seem to resent me being a hippie.  They had long hair and beards also. And they all agreed that the Vietnam war was a giant flustercluck.

I am 75+ years old. I hope you are not referring to me. However I do wish that I was younger

When I started reading it, I wondered, why is this in politics, then the last paragraph explained it all.

Although, generally speaking, the entire country just wished we would go away. Never bring up we were there and don't discuss it. It was too embarrassing.

Also back then we weren't so much left or right. We were war vs antiwar.

I picked up two of my friends at the airport. While we were waiting for baggage pick up a group of college students approached us. They began to say things that should not have been said. The encounter culminated with the idiots spitting on us and calling them baby killers. It was like something straight out of a movie. My returning friends had to restrain me after I laid out one of the males that had been accosting them. That is a memory I wish I didn’t have. One of the two soldiers actually committed suicide. I hope and pray that the reception they received was not a cause of his death.

WW2 Vets came home heroes

Korean War Vets came home largely unnoticed

Vietnam Vets came home to abuse and disdain

We owe an un-repayable debt to the men who suffered through and from that conflict.

Korean War Vets came home largely unnoticed ... and neglected.  We didn't win that war ... we just didn't lose that war 

What is astonishing is Vietnam vets that still support government policies today that resulted in the way they were treated when they came home. Unjustified wars. Our collective memory is very short and we are so easily manipulated into supporting stupid foreign adventures.
